Tata Power Renewable Energy signs deal with Tata Communications for solar power plant

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a major player in India’s power sector and a subsidiary of Tata Group, has recently signed a power agreement with Tata Communications Limited (Tata Communications), a prominent player in communication technology. The agreement is for an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar power plant.

Facilitated through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) named Nivade Windfarm Limited, the project carries an estimated value of ₹105 crore. Situated in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, the plant is expected to produce around 40 million units of power annually while offsetting over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

This initiative aligns with Tata Communications’ commitment to environmental sustainability and the adoption of eco-friendly energy solutions. By embracing renewable energy sources, the company aims to reduce its environmental footprint and promote a greener business environment.

With this addition, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity has reached 9,015 MW, including projects under power purchase agreements (PPAs) totaling 7,629 MW. The company currently operates 4,271 MW of renewable energy capacity, consisting of 3,244 MW in solar projects and 1,027 MW in wind projects.
