Poonawalla Fincorp appoints Salil Hajarnis as CTO following Dhiraj Saxena’s resignation over alleged harassment

Poonawalla Fincorp Ltd has announced that Mr. Salil Hajarnis officially joined as Chief Technology Officer on December 10, 2024. With over two decades of experience in technology leadership, Mr. Hajarnis brings a wealth of expertise in enterprise architecture, AI integration, and platform modernization.

This comes after Dhiraj Saxena, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Poonawalla Fincorp Limited, resigned from his position, effective December 3, citing alleged harassment by the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Saxena’s resignation, which was submitted in September, became public on December 6 through a regulatory filing.

“I hereby resign from the post of Chief Technology Officer due to harassment and unnecessary interventions of the CHRO, which is impacting me in managing the IT function effectively and efficiently. This is creating major unrest in the team, thereby impacting IT delivery. I have tried my best to collaborate, but it seems it is not the intention of the other side,” Saxena wrote in his letter.

Poonawalla Fincorp has not issued a formal response to the allegations. However, the company’s regulatory filing confirmed compliance with SEBI guidelines, including detailed disclosures regarding Saxena’s resignation, but did not comment on the specific claims made.

Previously, Mr. Hajarnis served as Head of Technology for India at Fiserv, where he spearheaded AI-driven and API-enabled solutions, enhancing real-time integrations and modernizing platforms across India, ASEAN, and Australia. Before that, he held senior positions at Capgemini, managing complex digital transformations and shaping technology strategies for global financial institutions. His expertise lies in modernizing legacy systems, delivering innovative lending solutions, and enhancing payment capabilities.

The appointment underscores Poonawalla Fincorp’s commitment to leveraging technology for transformative growth and operational excellence.
