Polyplex Corporation Ltd.’s subsidiary, Polyplex (USA) LLC (PU), has commenced trial runs for its newly commissioned BOPET thin film production line in the United States. This brownfield expansion adds 50,000 metric tons per annum (MT p.a.) capacity, bringing PU’s total US capacity to 81,000 MT p.a. Additionally, the company has successfully debottlenecked its PET resin plant, increasing its capacity from 58,000 MT p.a. to 86,000 MT p.a.
With these developments, PU is set to become the largest and most cost-competitive BOPET thin film producer in the US. The total capital expenditure for these projects amounts to approximately $124 million, funded through a combination of internal accruals and borrowings. Commercial production is expected to commence shortly, reinforcing Polyplex’s position as a market leader in the region.
These expansions align with the company’s long-term strategy to enhance production efficiency and meet the growing demand for high-quality BOPET films.
