Nxtra by Airtel, a leading data centre provider in India, has announced the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability across its data centres. This move makes Nxtra the first data centre in India to integrate AI for achieving higher efficiency and resilience in its operations.
The AI deployment, starting with Nxtra’s Chennai data centre, leverages Ecolibrium’s AI-powered SmartSense platform. This technology allows Nxtra to implement advanced digital capabilities such as predictive maintenance, energy efficiency optimisation, streamlined automation, and better capital utilisation. The company plans to expand the AI integration across all its core data centres.
Nxtra expects to achieve several efficiency milestones through this AI initiative:
- 10% Increase in Asset Life: Real-time performance analytics will enable early detection of equipment wear, allowing for timely corrective action.
- 10% Reduction in Non-IT Power Consumption: AI will help identify energy loss and deviations in individual pieces of equipment.
- 15% Improvement in Equipment Performance: AI-driven Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) algorithms will enhance preventative maintenance.
- 25% Boost in Productivity: Intelligent insights will streamline data centre operations, improving overall productivity.
Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, highlighted that integrating AI aligns with the company’s mission of creating “Intelligent by Design and Sustainable by Choice” data centres. He noted that this partnership with Ecolibrium is a significant step towards enhancing energy efficiency and delivering superior customer experiences.
Chintan Soni, CEO of Ecolibrium, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, underscoring the importance of AI in building smarter and more resilient data centre infrastructure in India.
This AI-powered transformation underscores Nxtra by Airtel’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in India’s fast-growing data centre industry.
