Maruti Suzuki to set up third plant at Kharkhoda with ₹7,410 crore investment, total capacity to reach 7.5 lakh units

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Tuesday announced that its board has approved the establishment of a third plant at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, with commercial operations expected to begin by 2029.

The fresh capacity addition will bring the total installed capacity at Kharkhoda to 7.5 lakh units per annum, making it one of Maruti Suzuki’s largest manufacturing hubs in India. Currently, one plant with 2.5 lakh units capacity is operational, and another is under construction.

The new plant will entail an investment of ₹7,410 crore, to be fully funded through internal accruals. The move comes in response to rising domestic and export demand, according to the company.

In a regulatory filing, MSIL stated that this expansion aligns with its long-term strategy to meet the growing automotive demand in India and abroad. The first plant at Kharkhoda began commercial production just last month, in February 2025.

The board meeting to approve the proposal was held on March 26 and concluded at 1:15 PM.
