Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has announced its major expansion project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where it will establish a Pellet Plant and a Direct Reduction of Iron (DRI) Plant for a reputed steel producer. The project aligns with the global push for decarbonisation and is part of a large order previously secured by L&T.
The company’s Minerals & Metals (M&M) business vertical will handle the end-to-end design, supply, and construction of the plants using globally recognized technologies. According to Mr. D K Sen, Executive Committee Member and Advisor to the CMD, L&T, this project reaffirms the company’s leadership in executing large-scale iron and steel plant projects.
“This reflects M&M’s leadership position in successful execution of complex iron & steel plant projects in the MENA region. It further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of M&M in delivering steel plant projects conforming to international standards in quality, safety, and ontime completion,” said Mr D K Sen, Executive Committee Member and Advisor to the CMD, L&T.
L&T’s involvement spans sectors including mining, steel, cement, and industrial products, providing EPC solutions worldwide. With the project classified as ‘Major’ under L&T’s classification, it falls within the ₹5,000-₹10,000 crore range, reflecting its strategic significance.
