The several operational areas of Saudi Arabia’s national electrical network are linked together by High Voltage Direct Current lines, allowing for the transfer of power between regions and higher system resilience. L&T got orders to develop ±500kV HVDC Transmission Links linked with these interconnections.

The company has also received orders for three more packages, including two 380kV overhead transmission lines and a bulk supply 380kV Gas Insulated Substation.

L&T has been awarded a contract to build two large 400kV gas-insulated substations in Abu Dhabi. The scope of work includes civil works as well as auto transformers, series current limiting reactors, related control, protection and alarm systems for the substation, including fault and power quality monitoring, telecommunications and integration with the load dispatch center.
