
JSW Steel has reported a significant 7% year-on-year (YoY) growth in its consolidated crude steel production for January 2025, reaching 25.18 lakh tonnes.
The company’s Indian operations contributed 24.52 lakh tonnes, marking a similar 7% increase from 22.86 lakh tonnes in January 2024. Meanwhile, JSW Steel USA – Ohio produced 0.66 lakh tonnes compared to 0.75 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.
The capacity utilization at JSW Steel’s Indian operations, excluding units under trial runs, stood at 90% for the month, highlighting strong operational efficiency.
In the meantime, on January 24, JSW Steel released its consolidated unaudited financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, revealing a significant decline in profitability. The company reported a net profit of ₹719 crore, marking a sharp 70.7% year-on-year drop from ₹2,450 crore in Q3 FY24. Despite this, revenue remained relatively stable, witnessing only a slight dip of 1.3% to ₹41,738 crore compared to ₹41,940 crore in the same quarter last year.
The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) also saw a substantial decline of 22.3%, falling to ₹5,579 crore from ₹7,180 crore in Q3 FY24. This downturn led to a drop in the EBITDA margin by 360 basis points, reducing it to 13.5% from 17.1% in the corresponding period last year.
