HPCL commissions 5 MMTPA LNG regasification terminal with Rs 4750 crore investment in Gujarat

HPCL LNG Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), has successfully commissioned a 5 MMTPA LNG regasification terminal at Chhara, Gujarat. The terminal, built with an investment of approximately ₹4750 Crores (INR 47.50 billion), features state-of-the-art facilities for LNG receipt, unloading, storage, regasification, and supply to the gas grid.

The Maran Gas Coronis, carrying LNG cargo, arrived at the terminal on January 6, 2025, and the discharge process was completed successfully by January 12, 2025. HPCL LNG Ltd. will operate the terminal on a “tolling” model, making it available for third-party users through long-term capacity bookings and Master Regasification Agreements for spot cargoes.

This strategic development marks a significant step in enhancing India’s LNG infrastructure and meeting growing energy demands. HPCL LNG Ltd. is set to begin commercial operations soon, contributing to the nation’s sustainable energy future.

In the meantime, HPCL shares opened at today ₹376.55, matching the day’s high. The stock’s low for the day reached ₹360.15. Over the past year, HPCL’s share price has fluctuated between a 52-week high of ₹457.15 and a 52-week low of ₹277.67. As of 2:45 PM, the shares were trading at 6.55% lower at Rs Rs 363.00.
