Google join hands with Foxconn to manufacture its Pixel smartphone in India

Google is planning to start manufacturing its Pixel smartphones in India, as per the reports of BBC, citing the sources familiar with the development.

The tech giant is set to manufacture the phones at an existing Foxconn facility in the southern region of India, state of Tamil Nadu.

The firm is also set to independently produce drones in the state.

India has emerged as a global destination for the MNCs to diversify their supply lines outside China, post its geopolitical tensions with the West.

Google had made an announcement last year that the company is planning to start manufacturing process of its smartphone in India, beginning with Pixel 8.

The BBC has now reported, citing sources, on Friday, that Alphabet’s Google will be making an advanced version of Pixel smartphones in Tamil Nadu, and the manufacturing would begin in this calendar year.

The sources have also claimed to the news agency that Google and Foxconn have also signed contract.
