GMR Airports Limited (formerly GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, GMR Nagpur International Airport Limited (GNIAL), has signed a Concession Agreement with MIHAN India Limited for the upgrade, development, and operation of Nagpur’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The agreement marks a significant step in enhancing the infrastructure of the airport and expanding its capabilities.
This development comes following a directive from the Hon’ble Supreme Court, dated September 27, 2024, which upheld the judgment of the Hon’ble Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court. The Supreme Court directed MIHAN India Limited to execute the Concession Agreement with GMR Airports Limited or its Special Purpose Vehicle.
The agreement will enable GMR Airports to modernize and expand the Nagpur airport, supporting the growing needs of air travel in the region and boosting local infrastructure.
