Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL) has partnered with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to establish the “CFCL-TERI Centre of Excellence for Advanced and Sustainable Agriculture Solutions.” The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on December 2, 2024, marking a significant collaboration to address critical challenges in Indian agriculture, including stagnating productivity, soil degradation, and the environmental impact of synthetic chemicals.

This joint initiative will focus on advancing biogenic innovations that are safer for the environment and human health, such as nano-biotechnology-based fertilizers, bio-fertilizers, bio-stimulants, and biopesticides. With CFCL’s financial backing, TERI will conduct end-to-end research and jointly develop biological solutions to complement chemical agri-inputs. This initiative aligns with India’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and supports the government’s PM PRANAAM scheme promoting alternative fertilizers.

Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General of TERI, emphasized the importance of sustainable agricultural practices to meet the challenges posed by a growing global population, aiming to increase food production by 70% by 2050. Mr. Abhay Baijal, Managing Director of CFCL, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to bring eco-friendly agricultural solutions to the market. The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s BioE3 initiative and is expected to significantly enhance soil health, climate resilience, and food security in India.
