Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a significant Letter of Intent (LOI) from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the Steam Generator Island Package of the 2×660 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II project. This major contract, awarded through international competitive bidding, marks another milestone for BHEL in the Indian power sector.
The project, located in Purulia district, West Bengal, involves the supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of Steam Generators and auxiliaries, including Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP), Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) systems, and Ash Handling systems, along with electrical and control instrumentation (C&I) and associated civil works. The execution timeline for the project is set at 48 months and 52 months for the two units.
With an estimated value of approximately ₹6,200 crore (excluding taxes and duties), this contract reinforces BHEL’s leadership in thermal power solutions.
In the meantime, on February 8, BHEL secured a massive ₹8,000 crore contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) for the development of two 660 MW units (Units 11 & 12) at the Koradi Thermal Power Station in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This significant project includes the supply, erection, and commissioning of the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) package, along with civil works and performance guarantee testing. The expansion of the Koradi plant will enhance Maharashtra’s power generation capacity, supporting energy demands and industrial growth.
