
Bharti Airtel, one of India’s leading telecom service providers, has announced the prepayment of Rs. 3,626 crores to the Department of Telecom (DoT), clearing all liabilities related to spectrum acquired in 2016.
This strategic move highlights Airtel’s commitment to managing its financial obligations efficiently and improving its overall financial health. With this prepayment, Airtel has now cleared all spectrum dues that carried interest costs higher than 8.65%, which will significantly reduce its future financial burden.
In the exchange filing the company shared, “Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, today said that it has prepaid Rs. 3,626 crores to the Department of Telecom (Government of India) clearing all its liabilities for spectrum it had acquired in 2016. With this, Airtel has now prepaid all its spectrum dues that had interest costs higher than 8.65%.”
