Adani Power has strengthened its contracted capacity portfolio after its subsidiary, Moxie Power Generation Ltd. (MPGL), received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) for the supply of 558 MW (net) of power for five years.
The power supply will commence from April 1, 2026. Moxie Power secured the contract through a competitive bidding process, emerging as the lowest bidder with a quoted tariff of Rs 5.910 per unit. The agreement marks a significant development for the company’s operations in Tamil Nadu.
Moxie Power operates a 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) thermal power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. With this latest agreement in place, both units of the plant are now backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs), improving capacity utilisation visibility and long-term operational stability.
Following the award, more than 95% of Adani Power’s total operating capacity of 18.15 GW is now secured under medium- to long-term contracts. This substantially reduces exposure to short-term merchant market fluctuations and enhances revenue predictability. The company has stated that it aims to achieve nearly 100% PPA tie-up for all its operational and under-commissioning plants in the coming years, further strengthening financial stability.
The agreement is expected to benefit consumers in Tamil Nadu by adding 558 MW of reliable and high-quality power to the state grid. The additional supply is likely to enhance grid stability and support uninterrupted electricity delivery to households, businesses, and industries. By locking in power at a competitive tariff of Rs 5.91 per unit, consumers may benefit from more affordable and dependable energy over the contract period.
