Amazon enters quick commerce with ‘Amazon Now,’ promising 10-minute deliveries in Bengaluru: Report

Amazon has launched ‘Amazon Now’ in select areas of Bengaluru, offering 10-minute deliveries without surge fees and free delivery on orders above ₹199, according to ET Now. The move makes Amazon the second major horizontal e-commerce platform to enter India’s quick commerce segment after Flipkart’s ‘Minutes.’

This competitive space already features top players like Zomato-owned Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, along with BigBasket’s BB Now and Reliance Retail’s Jio Mart. Vertical platforms like Nykaa (Nykaa Now) and Myntra (M-Now) have also ventured into rapid delivery services.

In fiscal 2024, Amazon Seller Services, the Indian marketplace arm of the U.S. e-commerce giant, reported a 14% rise in operating revenue to Rs 25,406 crore. While this outpaced the 3% growth seen in FY23, it fell short of the pandemic-era growth rates of 32% in FY22 and 49% in FY21. The company also narrowed its net loss by 28% to Rs 3,469 crore in FY24.

Amazon’s latest move signals its aggressive push to dominate the quick-commerce space in India, challenging established players and expanding its footprint in the evolving e-commerce landscape.
