The ALF-CIO demands an apology from Mark Zuckerberg. The American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees have called out Facebook. It is the largest union of industry workers in the United States of America. This happened after Facebook announced a drastic employment change. Moreover, the Social Media giant said it will limit unionization efforts. In basic terms it would prevent employees from being active members of trade unions.
Since, Facebook’s Workplace functions as an internal message board for corporate clients. This week, The Intercept reported that Facebook was promising clients the ability to exert “content control”. Also, it said companies could suppress the word “unionize”.
However, this did not dissolve in the AFL-CIO. Which, represents more than 12.5 Million workers in a single federated union. “Employers censoring their employee’s speech about unionizing is illegal.” President Richard Trumka said in a 12th June statement. “The ALF-CIO demands an apology from Mark Zuckerberg. Moreover, to all the working people and employees of the union. He should pull this tool immediately. Also, he should conduct a board-level investigation. In to how this product came into existence in the first place.”
“Although, Zuckerberg failed to make a statement. The Media company has frozen all production on the union busting feature. While, these kinds of content moderation tools are useful for companies. Though, this example was poorly chosen and should never have been used.” Stated a Union Spokesperson.
