IT services major Wipro will give 1.5 lakh of its employees a single-digit salary hike and promotions to its high-quality performers effective December 1. According to the sources, “This will be for employees at B3 and below levels, while increments for senior employees is still undecided.”
Earlier in April, the Bengaluru-based IT firm had opted to defer annual increments and scheduled promotions for June, in the light of the COVID-19 led disruptions. It had also promised to honour all campus job offers but had said that on-boarding would happen in phases.
Wipro had announced its plan to award promotions to high-performing employees in December, during its September quarter earnings announcement. The move is meant to reward employees for maintaining business continuity amid the coronavirus crisis. “Our employees have shown remarkable resolve and resilience in ensuring seamless business continuity and maintaining high standards of service in these challenging times. Wipro will roll out promotions for high performers in bands up to B3, effective December 1, 2020,” the spokesperson said.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already rolled out salary hikes effective October 1 for all employees. Apart from Wipro, Infosys is also considering promotions as the demand environment is slowly rising, according to reports. Capgemini made the promotions to its employees official, earlier in April. Cognizant in an email to employees said that it shall initiate the promotion cycle of employees from October 1.
