Vikram Dev Dutt has been appointed as a new DGCA head

Vikram Dev Dutt will take over as the head of the aviation industry regulator on February 28 when existing DGCA chairman Arun Kumar retires.

The Cabinet Appointments Committee has accepted the nomination of IAS official Vikram Dev Dutt as the next Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), according to a government announcement on January 21.

Dutt, an IAS officer from the 1993 batch, is the chairman and managing director of Air India Asset Holding Ltd. He will take over as DGCA chief on February 28, following the retirement of current DGCA chief Arun Kumar.

Dutt’s appointment will be in the “rank and salary of additional secretary to the Government of India,” with the charge taking effect “upon superannuation of Arun Kumar, IAS on 28.02.2023 by keeping the Recruitment Rules of the post in abeyance,” according to the statement.

Kumar, an IAS official from the 1989 batch, has been the DGCA’s director general since July 2019.
