“Indians carrying valid visas can now travel to UAE”, says Indian ambassador Pavan Kapoor

The Government of India allows Indians, with valid visas, to travel to the UAE. This is the first move for international travel that India is taking apart from the repatriation flights.

Indians with valid visas to the UAE  can now travel there. Indian ambassador to UAE, Pavan Kapoor, had tweeted on Saturday: “I understand that a decision to this effect has now indeed been taken by MHA (Union home ministry) in India”.

Aviation minister H S Puri had recently said air bubbles are being worked out with some neighbouring countries also to enable continuity of travel — by certain categories of people allowed under current government rules — till regular schedule flights resume.

Dubai, the biggest destination for Indian travellers, has conditionally reopened its doors for tourists from July 7, 2020.

On Wednesday (August 5), Ambassador Kapoor had tweeted that “since the UAE has recently started issuing new visas, we have recommended to authorities in India to consider allowing Indians with valid visas to travel to the UAE.”

The ticket bookings for flights from UAE to 18 destinations in India from August 16 to 31 will open on Tuesday at 10 am (local time).

Previously, only residency visa holders were allowed to travel to the country on flights being operated as part of India’s repatriation mission called Vande Bharat.
