Honda gears to launch Honda City 2020 amid COVID-19 outbreak

Japanese automobile brand Honda is preparing to launch the new version of Honda City in Indian market despite of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In order to increase the options for customers fifth generation city will be out in the market along with the fourth or current version of Honda City which was launched in December last year, priced between ₹ 9.91 lakhs and ₹ 14.31 Lakhs.

While interacting with media Mr. Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director Marketing and Sales of Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The current COVID-19 crisis is an unprecedented situation and we have to overcome challenges on many fronts including supply chain, production, sales activity at dealerships and of course market sentiment. As a manufacturer, it is our responsibility to launch our latest models which can help us create fresh excitement in the market.”

Other than the Tapukara (Rajasthan) and Greater Noida plants, the company is busy with production resumption, community normalcy, re-opening of dealership aligned with the launch of new models. When asked about the time of launch he did not specify the exact time but he was quoted saying, “Even though we do not know how much, but we do feel that personal mobility will gain even more significance in current times. We are committed and going ahead with our launch plans.”

While talking about the upcoming fifth generation city he said, “The launch of all new City will be our key priority area and we are confident that it will create a new benchmark of supremacy in the mid-size sedan segment with its highly advanced product offering.”

He ruled out the ‘bulk sales’ option of current City as the sedan customers are often personal buyers, The company will follow the same strategy for popular brand.

The existing version of Honda City, the fourth generation is a successful and popular model.
