Ukraine’s chief negotiator with Russia is hopeful that peace talks are making progress toward a possible agreement. This could mean a resolution to the five-year conflict is close. Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s top military intelligence official and a key player in negotiations with the United States and Russia, told Bloomberg in an April 4 interview that both sides have stuck to their strong positions. However, he believes they will move closer in their search for compromise.

“They all understand the war needs to end. That’s why they are negotiating,” Budanov said. “I don’t think it will be long.” Budanov acknowledged that while negotiations to end Europe’s bloodiest conflict since World War II have not shown many public results, the talks are progressing toward a settlement. He also indicated that Russia seems ready to end the war.

A key development in the peace process has been the continued U.S. involvement as a mediator. Budanov pointed out that Ukraine expects senior White House officials to lead a U.S. delegation to Kyiv to discuss a potential deal to end the war. This highlights Washington’s ongoing role in supporting the negotiations. Budanov, known for planning and carrying out bold raids on Russian forces, has been head of Ukraine’s military intelligence since 2020. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appointed him as chief of his presidential office in January, giving him a central role in Ukraine’s negotiating team.

These comments represent one of the most hopeful assessments from a senior Ukrainian official about the chances of ending the conflict, which has heavily affected the country and changed European security. However, significant challenges remain, as both sides continue to hold strong positions on key issues like territorial disputes and security guarantees. The United States’ role as an active mediator could be vital in reconciling Ukrainian and Russian demands in the coming weeks.

Lebanon will attend a three-nation conference in Washington next week in an attempt to arrange a ceasefire with Israel, but a high-ranking Lebanese government official stated that no ceasefire means no talks with Israel. According to the US Department of State, next week’s talks will be held in Washington between Israeli and Lebanese delegates to secure a ceasefire agreement. The talks have been scheduled by Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s office. Ambassador Michel Issa of Lebanon, Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter, and Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad will head the discussions.

But a Lebanese government official speaking to Reuters said that Beirut wants to see a ceasefire prior to any discussions with Israel. “No talks under fire,” he asserted. The discussions in Washington follow an ongoing dispute over whether Lebanon was part of the tentative US-Iran ceasefire agreement reached on Tuesday. Israeli troops have reportedly slain 303 and injured 1,150 civilians in Lebanon as of Wednesday; these attacks were among the most violent since Hezbollah’s participation in the war in early March. Whereas Pakistanis acting as brokers in the discussions along with Iran claim that Lebanon was indeed included in the ceasefire deal, the United States and Israel adamantly refuse such a claim. The Israeli prime minister ordered the government to conduct talks with Lebanon in order to disarm Hezbollah and attain peace, but denied the existence of a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Ali Fayyad, a Hezbollah MP, refused to negotiate directly with Israel, stating that the government must insist on a ceasefire being made a prerequisite before anything else is done. The Shiite militant organization has been launching rockets against northern Israel, saying that such attacks will go on unless the Israeli attacks on Lebanon end. This conflict may not only sabotage the ongoing talks in Lebanon but may also jeopardize other discussions between the United States and Iran taking place this coming weekend in Islamabad.

The first round of direct US-Iran ceasefire talks scheduled for today in Islamabad appears to be at serious risk, with Pakistan media reporting that the Iranian delegation has not yet reached the Pakistani capital.

Despite earlier announcements and preparations, conflicting signals from Tehran have created fresh uncertainty around the high-stakes negotiations brokered by Pakistan.

Why the Talks Are in Doubt Right Now

No Arrival Confirmed: Multiple Pakistan-based reports indicate the Iranian team, expected to be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has still not arrived in Islamabad.

Iran’s Condition: Iranian state media (including Fars News) has made it clear — no talks and no delegation until Israel completely stops its attacks on Lebanon. Tehran views continued operations in southern Lebanon (including the Litani region) as a violation of the ceasefire understanding.

US Position: The United States, led by Vice President JD Vance along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, maintains that the two-week ceasefire applies only to direct strikes on Iran and does not include the separate Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon.

Current Situation on April 10, 2026

Pakistan had invited both sides for face-to-face negotiations starting today to build on the fragile two-week conditional ceasefire. While the US side appears ready and an advance team is already in place, the absence of the Iranian delegation means the opening round is either delayed or may not happen as planned.

This standoff adds to existing pressures on the truce, including:

Reports of intense hostile drone activity over Iranian cities

Disagreements over management of the Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s demand for full compensation and stronger control over the strategic waterway

Is first round of US-Iran ceasefire talks at risk today?

Yes, the first round of US-Iran ceasefire talks is at clear risk today. Without the Iranian delegation in Islamabad, substantive negotiations cannot begin as scheduled. The coming hours will be critical in determining whether diplomacy can overcome the Lebanon impasse or if the fragile truce faces further setbacks.

The European Union and the United States are moving toward a significant agreement on critical minerals supply chains. This deal...

The European Union and the United States are moving toward a significant agreement on critical minerals supply chains. This deal aims to lessen their heavy reliance on China’s near-monopoly over resources crucial for modern technology and defense systems. In early February 2026, the EU, US, and Japan agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding within 30 days. This document focuses on improving the security of critical minerals supply chains. The partnership will pinpoint areas for collaboration to boost demand and diversify supply through joint projects in mining, refining, processing, and recycling.

China currently controls the global critical minerals market, holding about 90 percent of the processing capacity for materials like lithium, graphite, cobalt, rare earth elements, and other resources vital for electric vehicles, renewable energy technologies, semiconductors, and military equipment. Beijing has used this dominance to impose export restrictions, which give it strong geopolitical power over Western supply chains. The proposed EU-US framework includes several important elements. These are joint exploration of critical mineral projects, price-support systems to guard against Chinese market manipulation, possible stockpiling agreements, and coordinated pricing strategies. US Vice President JD Vance announced plans for a trading bloc with minimum prices to protect producers from low Chinese exports that could threaten Western mining operations.

US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum noted that around 30 countries have shown interest in joining this critical minerals alliance. This initiative reflects a rare instance of trade cooperation during the Trump administration, which has mainly pushed for aggressive tariff policies. The EU, which gets all its heavy rare earth elements from China, faces particular risks. The bloc’s Critical Raw Materials Act aims to source 10 percent of consumption domestically and refine 40 percent of materials within Europe by 2030, with no single country accounting for more than 65 percent of any strategic material. Both parties recognize the urgency. US officials stress that China’s ability to flood markets with low-cost minerals threatens the economic viability of Western production.

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi discussed the ongoing Strait of Hormuz crisis, committing to improved bilateral cooperation to address the maritime blockade affecting global energy supplies. The two ministers spoke by phone on Tuesday. Tokyo expressed concern about the large number of Japanese vessels stranded in the Gulf. According to the Japanese foreign ministry, both nations confirmed their commitment to work together to calm the situation and ensure stable energy supplies to their countries.

Jaishankar acknowledged the conversation on social media platform X. He noted they discussed developments in West Asia, including international shipping through the strategic waterway. He also thanked his Japanese counterpart for offering condolences regarding Indian lives lost in the broader conflict. The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed since late February 2026, following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. However, Tehran has since taken a selective approach, allowing passage for ships from countries it views as non-hostile. Japan sources more than 90 percent of its crude oil imports from the Middle East and heavily depends on exports passing through the strait. This makes the closure especially critical for Japanese energy security.

India has secured passage for several of its vessels. Indian-flagged LPG carriers were evacuated from the strait between March 14 and 24 under the escort of Indian Navy warships. On March 26, Iran announced that ships from five nations, including India, would be allowed to transit. The coordination between India and Japan highlights the serious economic challenges both countries face due to the maritime disruption. The closure has strained global energy markets and led to emergency measures like coordinated releases from strategic oil reserves. Both nations are pursuing diplomatic channels instead of military options to resolve the crisis. They are prioritizing dialogue and regional stability while protecting their energy interests.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election manifesto for West Bengal on Friday. He framed the upcoming assembly polls as a battle between “fear and trust.” The party aims to unseat the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government. The manifesto, titled ‘Sankalp Patra,’ emphasizes welfare measures for women, farmers, and youth. Key promises include monthly financial aid of Rs 3,000 for women, special packages for healthcare and education, and initiatives to improve industrial growth in the state.

During his speech, Shah criticized the TMC’s 15-year rule from 2011 to 2026. He promised to reveal what he called a detailed “corruption list” and ensure accountability through legal action. He vowed to ban cattle smuggling from West Bengal and accused the TMC of encouraging corruption through scams in teacher recruitment, municipal appointments, cattle smuggling, ration distribution, MGNREGA, and PM Awas schemes.

The manifesto outlines plans to establish more colleges with a focus on women’s education, create industrial zones to generate jobs, and implement special packages for fisheries and agro-processing units. The BJP also pledged to build more hospitals and create job opportunities for young people. Shah’s launch of the manifesto coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign rallies. Modi announced six major guarantees, including implementing the 7th Pay Commission for state government employees, taking action against corruption, and maintaining a strict approach to illegal infiltration while safeguarding the constitutional rights of refugees.

The BJP aims to replace what it describes as the TMC’s “reign of terror” with good governance and trust. The party began an extensive outreach campaign in February, gathering over eight lakh suggestions from citizens in various sectors, including industrialists, educators, farmers, and the Bengali diaspora.

West Bengal will vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29 across all 294 assembly constituencies. The results will be declared on May 4. In the 2021 elections, the TMC won a landslide victory with 213 seats, while the BJP secured 77 seats, a significant increase from just three seats in the previous election. The manifesto highlights the BJP’s effort to present itself as a development-focused alternative to the current government.

Kamal Kharrazi, Iran’s former foreign minister and a senior adviser to the country’s leadership, died Thursday night from injuries sustained in a targeted airstrike on his Tehran home, according to Iranian state media. The 81-year-old diplomat was critically wounded on April 1 when US-Israeli forces struck his residence in the Iranian capital. His wife was killed instantly in the attack. After more than a week of fighting for his life in the hospital, Kharrazi succumbed to his injuries on April 9.

At the time of his death, Kharrazi headed Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, an influential advisory body that reports directly to the supreme leader and shapes the country’s foreign policy strategy. He served as Iran’s foreign minister from 1997 to 2005, navigating key periods in the Islamic Republic’s international relations. Kharrazi was one of Iran’s most experienced diplomats and had been a close adviser to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Reports indicate that he was recently involved in Pakistani-mediated efforts to arrange potential talks between Iranian officials and US Vice President JD Vance, even as hostilities escalated.

His assassination is a significant blow to Iran’s diplomatic establishment and comes amid an ongoing US-Israeli military campaign that began on February 28, as described by Iranian sources. The conflict has already claimed more than 2,000 lives, including Ayatollah Khamenei himself, according to Iranian media.

The targeted killing of such a high-profile diplomatic figure marks a dramatic escalation in regional tensions. Kharrazi’s death removes one of Iran’s most seasoned voices in international affairs at a crucial time when diplomatic channels could have provided a path toward de-escalation. Iranian officials have not yet announced funeral arrangements or indicated how the government plans to respond to the killing.

Seven people were arrested in Iran’s Semnan province, according to reports from Iranian media. This comes amid a broader security crackdown across the country. The arrests were made by Iranian security forces on charges related to national security concerns, but detailed information about the individuals has not been shared publicly.

Reports from human rights monitoring groups and domestic media say the detained individuals were accused of activities like sharing information, images, or videos with foreign media outlets, or having contacts with groups considered hostile by Iranian authorities. Similar cases in recent weeks involved accusations of espionage or acting against national security, especially during a time of heightened tensions and unrest.

The arrests in Semnan reflect a wider trend of detentions throughout Iran. Since early 2026, authorities have stepped up efforts to reduce dissent and block the flow of information abroad. Hundreds, and in some cases thousands, of people have reportedly been detained across the country in connection with protests, alleged espionage, or links to foreign organizations.

This crackdown occurs amid ongoing political unrest and conflict-related tensions. Iranian officials have claimed that these arrests are necessary to protect national security, especially with accusations that foreign governments are trying to influence domestic issues. However, human rights organizations are concerned about the lack of transparency, due process, and the treatment of detainees.

In many cases, authorities have not revealed the identities or locations of those arrested, which raises fears among families and activists. Critics argue that the broad definition of national security offenses allows for the detention of ordinary citizens, including students, workers, and social media users. Overall, the arrest of seven individuals in Semnan province highlights the ongoing climate of tension and strict enforcement in Iran, where authorities are vigilant against perceived internal and external threats.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached a key moment in his political career by taking oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on April 10, 2026. The ceremony happened at the Parliament House in New Delhi, where the Vice President of India, who also chairs the Rajya Sabha, administered the oath.

This event marks Nitish Kumar’s first formal entry into the Upper House of Parliament. After decades in state politics and multiple terms as Bihar’s Chief Minister, his move to the national level is seen as a significant political shift. Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in is not only a personal achievement but also important for the broader political scene. His move to the Rajya Sabha could change Bihar’s political landscape and may lead to new leaders in the state. Reports indicate that he might resign from the Chief Minister’s post soon after taking the oath, and discussions are already happening within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) about his successor.

This shift also represents his return to active national politics after nearly twenty years. Throughout his career, Nitish Kumar has held important roles in both state and central governments, including serving as a Union minister in previous administrations. His experience and influence are expected to be vital in future parliamentary matters. Politically, this transition shows changing strategies within his party, Janata Dal (United), and its allies. By joining the Rajya Sabha, Nitish Kumar is likely to focus more on national policymaking while still indirectly influencing politics in Bihar. Nitish Kumar’s oath as a Rajya Sabha member marks the start of a new chapter in his political journey. It signifies both the end of an era in Bihar’s leadership and the beginning of a potentially influential role in national politics.

Russia is experiencing a significant financial boost from the US-Israeli war on Iran. Reuters calculates that the country’s main oil tax revenue doubled to $9 billion in April alone, making Moscow one of the key winners in this severe energy crisis. According to Reuters, Russia’s mineral extraction tax on oil output is expected to reach about 700 billion roubles ($9 billion) in April, up from 327 billion roubles in March. This nearly doubles the revenue, driven largely by the disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the subsequent global oil price shock.

Russia’s average daily oil export revenues also increased, rising from $135 million in January to $270 million in March. The Kremlin, which had planned to cut non-security spending by 10%, completely abandoned those plans and continued to fund its war in Ukraine as if nothing had changed. A Kremlin insider quoted by The Guardian stated, “For our budget, the attack on Iran is a big plus.” Sergey Vakulenko, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, told CNBC that the increase was substantial. He noted it allowed Putin to delay planned cuts to state spending that would have been very unpopular. “What he was spending on the war meant he was basically pawning the country. Now, he doesn’t have to do that anymore,” he said.

The financial gains extend beyond crude oil. Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz has also pushed up prices for aluminum, liquefied natural gas, and fertilizers. Aluminum prices have increased by 12%, while urea prices have surged nearly 75% since the conflict began. The potential for further financial gains is huge. The KSE Institute estimates that Russia could receive between $45 billion and $151 billion in additional budget revenues by 2026, depending on how long the conflict lasts. This projection includes higher prices, recovering export volumes, a smaller discount on Russian crude, and revenues from other energy exports.

However, there are limitations. Ukraine’s ongoing attacks on Russian energy infrastructure have disrupted at least 40% of Russia’s oil export capacity—marking the most significant interruption of oil shipments in the country’s modern history. This situation could dampen some of the price-related gains. The findings from Reuters offer the clearest evidence yet that the war in Iran, which is causing suffering for millions in the Middle East, is also providing a financial boost to support the Kremlin’s military efforts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced six major guarantees for West Bengal during an election rally in Haldia. The BJP is working hard to take control of the state from Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress before the polls on April 23 and 29.

While speaking at the Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Haldia, Modi criticized the TMC. He accused the party of slowing down the state’s economic progress and said that development had declined across all indicators over the past 15 years. He assured the public that no corrupt individual would escape consequences and warned that action would reach all levels. “Today, I assure you that the BJP will act according to the Constitution. Everyone will receive their rightful due, and this is Modi’s guarantee,” he declared.

The six guarantees include the following points. The first focuses on moving West Bengal from a state of “Bhoy” (fear) to a future of “Bhorosa” (trust). The BJP described this as a promise to end syndicate rule and the cut-money culture. The second emphasizes providing justice to the people. The third guarantees resolution of pending cases related to gang violence, corruption, injustice, and rape.

The fourth guarantee promises to imprison anyone involved in corruption during the Trinamool era, including ministers and police officials. Modi stated that no TMC “goon” would be allowed to remain safe, and public money would not be stolen. The fifth guarantee addresses refugees, ensuring facilities as per the constitution, while deporting infiltrators. The sixth guarantees the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission for government employees and teachers in Bengal, who Modi claimed had faced intimidation under the current government.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is open to all civilian shipping, directly opposing reports...

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is open to all civilian shipping, directly opposing reports of a complete closure. However, there is an important condition: sea mines from the war require all vessels to work with Iranian authorities to find safe alternative routes before passing through the waterway.

“Anyone who communicates with the Iranian authority has permission to pass,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said, as reported by ITV News. This statement presents Iran’s control over the strait as a safety requirement rather than a blockade, driven by the threat of underwater mines. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed this position, stating, “All ships intending to transit the Strait of Hormuz are hereby notified that to comply with maritime safety principles and avoid possible collisions with sea mines, they should take alternative routes for traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iran’s IRGC Navy also released a map outlining alternative shipping routes through the strait. The safe entry path runs from the Sea of Oman to the north of Larak Island, while the safe exit path passes south of Larak Island towards the Sea of Oman. Semiofficial Iranian news agencies shared a nautical chart designating a large “danger zone” in Farsi over the Traffic Separation Scheme, which is the established international shipping lane. This chart implies that mines were placed along the main route during the war and is dated from February 28 to April 9.

This announcement comes during a fragile two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran. The White House has insisted that the strait must reopen “without limitation, including tolls,” with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that the ceasefire relies on meeting this condition fully. Iran and Oman are also finalizing a joint protocol to monitor and coordinate all tanker traffic through the strait. Analysts suggest this move could solidify Iranian control over the world’s most critical energy chokepoint well beyond the current conflict.

Lebanon’s Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine confirmed on Thursday that 203 people were killed and over 1,000 were wounded in Wednesday’s devastating wave of Israeli airstrikes. This was the deadliest single day of the conflict, and the Israeli military described it as its largest coordinated strike since the war began.

The Israeli attacks involved fifty fighter jets and about 160 munitions. The IDF named this operation “Eternal Darkness.” They struck central Beirut without warning, hitting at least five different neighborhoods in the city’s central and coastal areas. Several attacks occurred in busy commercial and residential spots during rush hour, which caused widespread panic in the streets. Health Minister Nassereddine stated that Lebanon faced a “dangerous escalation” after Israel launched more than 100 airstrikes across the country within 10 minutes, targeting Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon. He said, “Ambulances are still transporting victims to hospitals,” urging international organizations to help the Lebanese health sector.

The attacks have significant geopolitical implications, coming just hours after a US-Iran ceasefire was announced. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called the attacks a “massacre,” and Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz again in response. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the strikes violated the negotiating framework that Trump had agreed to. An Israeli airstrike also targeted a cemetery in the Bekaa Valley village of Shmestar during a funeral, killing at least ten mourners. Three girls died in an attack on the coastal town of Adloun. Doctors Without Borders reported that its healthcare staff were injured by Israeli forces at Hiram Hospital in Tyre.

Since Israel stepped up its military campaign in early March, bombardments and ground operations have killed around 1,700 people in Lebanon and displaced more than 1.2 million from their homes. Trump, speaking to PBS NewsHour, stated that Lebanon was not part of the ceasefire deal because of Hezbollah. He added that the issue in Lebanon would be addressed.

United States Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has made a bold declaration following the US-Iran ceasefire agreement. He stated that the truce comes with a firm guarantee: Iran will never be allowed to develop or possess a nuclear weapon. Hegseth’s statement clearly shows what Washington sees as the main goal of its military campaign against Iran. The Pentagon views the ceasefire not just as a break in fighting, but as a key solution to the nuclear issue. The United States plans to enforce this with strong determination.

His declaration will have significant impact across several capitals. In Tehran, where the nuclear program is seen as a sovereign right and a source of national pride, Hegseth’s words will likely be met with skepticism and strong resistance. Iranian leaders have always insisted that their nuclear activities are for civilian purposes, and any agreement that gives up the nuclear option will face major domestic political opposition. For Israel, which has long sought strong guarantees against a nuclear-armed Iran and whose military actions helped bring Tehran to the negotiating table, Hegseth’s statement will provide some reassurance. However, Israeli officials will likely want solid verification methods instead of just promises.

The statement also raises important questions about how this will be put into action and enforced. How will the United States make sure that Iran never develops a nuclear weapon? What systems for monitoring, inspection, and consequences for violations are part of the ceasefire arrangement? These important details are currently not publicly specified.

What is clear is that Washington sees this ceasefire as a historic win. It believes it has achieved, through military pressure, what years of diplomacy and sanctions could not accomplish. Whether this claim will hold up over time and amidst the complexities of Middle Eastern politics is still uncertain.

In a surprising turn of events, Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry has stated that the government in Beirut is ready to engage in direct talks with Israel. This announcement could lead to a significant change in one of the Middle East’s longest-standing rivalries. Lebanon and Israel have technically been at war for decades, with a border characterized by hostility, conflict, and mutual distrust. The two nations have never held formal direct negotiations. All previous agreements, including ceasefire understandings and border discussions, took place indirectly through intermediaries like the United States and the United Nations.

Beirut’s announcement comes at a time when there is a broader ceasefire between the United States and Iran. This suggests that Lebanon’s leadership under President Joseph Aoun is moving quickly to position the country favorably within a changing geopolitical landscape. After welcoming the US-Iran truce and promising to seek Lebanon’s place in a lasting regional peace, the Foreign Ministry’s statement represents the boldest step yet toward that goal.

The timing is both brave and strategic. With Hezbollah’s patron Iran agreeing to a ceasefire with Washington, Lebanon now has the chance to pursue its own diplomatic path, something that was not possible before. Hezbollah’s grip on Lebanese foreign policy remains significant, but it may be facing its biggest challenge in years. For Israel, this announcement is both an opportunity and a test. How Jerusalem responds to Beirut’s proposal, especially while continuing military strikes in Lebanese territory, will reveal much about the chances for lasting peace. The Middle East is changing rapidly. Lebanon’s remarkable announcement might become one of the most important diplomatic moments in this turbulent period.

President Donald Trump has issued a broad and urgent economic warning to the world. He announced on his Truth Social platform that any country supplying military weapons to Iran will face a 50% tariff on all goods sold to the United States. This policy takes effect immediately and allows for no exceptions. The announcement, typical of Trump’s straightforward and emphatic social media style, marks one of the most forceful uses of American economic power since the conflict with Iran began. With a single post, the President warned every nation on Earth—both friends and foes—that military support for Iran would lead to immediate and severe economic consequences.

The scope of the threat is remarkable. By stating that there will be no exclusions, Trump has closed off any diplomatic options. Traditional allies that have commercial or strategic ties with Tehran, nations that have provided defensive military equipment, and countries navigating complex geopolitical situations could all be affected by this broad declaration. The economic consequences are significant. A 50% tariff on goods from a major trading partner would disrupt global supply chains.

TRUMP ON TRUTH SOCIAL:

“A COUNTRY SUPPLYING MILITARY WEAPONS TO IRAN WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TARIFFED, ON ANY AND ALL GOODS SOLD TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 50%, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. THERE WILL BE NO EXCLUSIONS OR EXEMPTIONS! PRESIDENT DJT”

This move also holds considerable geopolitical weight. Countries like Russia and China, which have defense ties with Iran, would face intense pressure. Even nations trying to stay neutral now have to make a clear and impactful decision. Markets, foreign ministries, and defense agencies worldwide will be analyzing the implications of Trump’s post with urgency. When the President of the United States announces something effective immediately, the countdown starts right away.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has warmly welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. However, Israel has made it clear that Lebanon will not be part of the truce, continuing its military strikes on Lebanese territory with devastating results. Aoun’s response showed cautious optimism, tempered by the stark political reality. He viewed the ceasefire as a positive step for regional stability but acknowledged that Lebanon remains exposed and vulnerable, outside the safety of the agreement while Israeli strikes continue to claim lives and damage infrastructure in the country.

In a strong statement, Aoun committed to pursuing diplomatic efforts to ensure Lebanon is included in any lasting regional peace settlement. His message was clear: Lebanon will not be left behind as a forgotten front in a conflict it did not start and cannot easily escape. Lebanon’s situation is deeply fragile. The country still carries the physical and psychological scars from years of conflict, economic collapse, and political stagnation. Its institutions are weak, the economy is shattered, and its people are exhausted by an endless cycle of war and crisis. For ordinary Lebanese citizens, the ceasefire announcement may have briefly sparked hope, but this has quickly faded with the ongoing Israeli military actions on their land.

President Aoun’s readiness to engage diplomatically, rather than just through rhetoric, reflects the practical limits facing Beirut. Lebanon does not have the military strength to confront Israel directly and must rely on international diplomacy and multilateral pressure to secure its place in any peace agreement. Whether the international community will respond to Beirut’s request and advocate for Lebanon’s inclusion in a wider regional settlement is one of the most urgent and unresolved questions of this tense situation.

The ink had barely dried on the US-Iran ceasefire announcement when it became clear that the fragile truce would not stop violence across the region. Israel continued military strikes in southern Lebanon, killing eight people in the port city of Sidon. Israel has made its stance clear. It does not believe the ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran applies to the Hezbollah-Israel front. From Jerusalem’s viewpoint, the conflict in Lebanon is separate and distinct. Israel plans to handle it on its own terms, regardless of any diplomatic deals involving Iran’s nuclear program and wider military issues.

The strikes on Sidon highlight the complex nature of the regional conflict. While the US-Iran ceasefire may have paused the most intense military exchanges of recent weeks, the broader Middle East remains filled with interconnected conflicts, proxy issues, and unresolved grievances that no single agreement can fully address. So far, Hezbollah has shown restraint. It has not launched rockets across the border or claimed attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. The Iran-backed group is expected to clarify its official stance on the ceasefire soon. This statement could be crucial in deciding whether the fragile calm persists or falls apart quickly.

The situation creates a delicate and dangerous paradox. A ceasefire that ends the US-Iran war but allows tensions on the Lebanese front to escalate risks generating a false sense of stability. This could collapse suddenly if Hezbollah chooses to respond to Israeli strikes or if Israel intensifies its actions. The world is watching Hezbollah’s next move very closely.

The Kremlin welcomed the news of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. It hopes that Washington will now focus its diplomatic efforts on restarting the stalled three-way peace talks about the war in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov spoke to reporters on Wednesday and gave a measured but clearly relieved response to the truce announcement. “We received the news of a truce with satisfaction. We welcome the decision not to continue down the path of armed escalation,” Peskov said, showing a notably conciliatory tone from a government that has been engaged in a brutal military conflict for over four years.

Moscow had previously acknowledged that the Ukraine peace talks had effectively stopped due to the hostilities between the U.S. and Iran. This conflict took up much of Washington’s diplomatic and military focus. With the ceasefire now in place, Russia is signaling its eagerness to return to the negotiating table. “We hope that, in the foreseeable future, the U.S. will have more time and greater opportunity to meet in a trilateral format,” Peskov added, referring to the three-way talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

Those negotiations have a fragile and complex history. Talks started in Istanbul and moved to three-way discussions earlier this year in Abu Dhabi and Geneva. However, progress has been painfully slow, mostly stalled by a serious territorial deadlock. Russia continues to demand that Ukraine formally give up the remainder of the Donbas region, territory that Moscow’s forces have yet to fully capture after over four years of devastating warfare. Kyiv has consistently refused to surrender any land still outside Russian military control. Whether the Iran ceasefire truly creates the necessary diplomatic space to revive Ukraine negotiations is still very uncertain. For now, Moscow is cautiously, and perhaps strategically, expressing optimism.

US Vice President JD Vance has delivered a strong warning to Iran, stating that any deception or defiance of the newly signed two-week ceasefire agreement will result in serious consequences for the Islamic Republic.

Context: Multiple Violations on Day One of Ceasefire

Iran’s actions today have already tested the agreement:

Iranian Navy declared that all ships must obtain permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz or face destruction.

Iranian drones attacked Kuwait’s southern oil facilities and power plants starting at 8 AM.

Missile threats targeted the UAE, with air defenses activated.

Explosions reported at Iran’s Sirri Island oil terminal.

Iran threatened to bomb Tel Aviv if Israeli operations in southern Lebanon do not stop.

These incidents directly contradict the core terms of the ceasefire, which included Iran guaranteeing safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Position on the Ceasefire

The two-week ceasefire was meant to halt direct US-Iran hostilities and allow negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan. However, the Trump administration has made it clear that continued attacks on Gulf states, threats to shipping, and escalation in Lebanon will not be tolerated.

Vice President Vance emphasized that the US will hold Iran strictly accountable and is prepared to respond decisively if the agreement is violated.

In an important diplomatic move, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed Iran’s involvement in peace talks to be held in Islamabad. This marks a significant step, potentially the first direct in-person negotiations since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28.

The announcement follows weeks of intense Pakistani diplomacy that has made Islamabad a key link between Washington and Tehran. A first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is scheduled for Friday in Islamabad, according to sources familiar with the planning. President Trump announced a two-week ceasefire during which both sides will negotiate a full peace agreement, and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed Tehran’s acceptance.

Pakistan’s role in achieving this breakthrough has taken months to develop. Iranian President Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s positive role and highlighted the need to build trust for negotiations to succeed. Both Iran and the United States expressed confidence in Islamabad’s ability to facilitate discussions. Earlier calls revealed that Pezeshkian informed Sharif that Iran had faced attacks during prior nuclear talks with the US. He warned that this disconnect—engaging in talks while facing strikes—had increased Iranian skepticism about Washington’s intentions. He stated that confidence-building measures would be necessary before Tehran could consider direct talks.

Iran’s Kharg Island, the country’s most vital oil export terminal and the heart of its petroleum industry, has faced multiple strikes according to a report from Iran’s state-affiliated Mehr News Agency. If confirmed, this development could be one of the most significant escalations of the conflict to date.

Kharg Island, situated in the northern Persian Gulf, handles about 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil exports. A sustained or successful attack on this facility would severely impact Iran’s economy, cutting off the nation’s main financial lifeline. This would have immediate and serious effects on global energy markets. Targeting Kharg Island represents a dangerous new level in the conflict. For decades, it has been viewed as a potential flashpoint in any military clash involving Iran. Strategists and analysts have long recognized it as the most economically damaging target for an opponent. Its destruction or extended shutdown would lead to billions in lost revenues for Iran almost instantly.

The global consequences would also be severe. Even with current sanctions, Iran’s crude exports play a significant role in the world oil supply. A major disruption to operations at Kharg Island could cause oil prices to spike to levels not seen in years, potentially creating a new wave of inflation in economies already suffering from the financial fallout of the larger conflict.

Shipping insurers, tanker operators, and commodity traders are closely monitoring the situation, as the Persian Gulf, through which about 20 percent of the world’s oil flows, becomes a more dangerous route. Currently, details are scarce, and independent verification is still needed. The full extent and impact of the reported strikes on Kharg Island have yet to be established, but the world is watching closely.

Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports from the key Yanbu port have fallen sharply. Starting March 30, shipments dropped 15 percent to 3.9 million barrels per day, according to the latest shipping data. This decline is significant and is causing new concerns in the already unstable global energy markets. The timing is sensitive. The US-Israeli military operation against Iran has already disrupted regional oil flows and increased fuel prices in vulnerable economies worldwide. This drop from Yanbu raises questions about whether the decline is due to planned supply changes, logistical issues from regional instability, or a mix of both.

Yanbu, located on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, is one of the Kingdom’s most important oil export terminals. It manages a large share of the crude that moves westwards to European and global markets. A 15 percent weekly drop from such a major route is unusual and has serious implications for supply stability when energy markets can’t handle more disruptions. The Red Sea has also experienced increased tension recently, leading to shipping disruptions that have affected commodity markets and driven up freight costs. Any signs that Saudi export capacity is shrinking, even temporarily, could add to price pressures that are already affecting import-dependent economies from South Asia to Sub-Saharan Africa.

OPEC watchers and energy analysts will be closely examining this data in the coming days to determine whether this is a short-term issue or the start of a more lasting change in Saudi export strategy. For a world already dealing with the economic challenges of ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the figures from Yanbu are another troubling indication that the worst of the energy crisis may still be ahead.

Iran has intensified its cultural diplomacy. The country’s Minister of Cultural Heritage has officially reached out to UNESCO’s Director-General. He urged the United Nations cultural agency to condemn Israel’s alleged threat to strike Iran’s famous trans-Iranian railway, which is recognized as a World Heritage site.

According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the letter urges UNESCO to take a clear and immediate position against any military action targeting this historic rail network. The minister argues that the threat is not just an attack on Iranian infrastructure; it endangers the shared heritage of all humanity.

The appeal centers on one of the engineering marvels of the twentieth century. The trans-Iranian railway stretches 1,394 kilometers, connecting the Caspian Sea in northeastern Iran to the Persian Gulf in the southwest. It crosses some of the most challenging and dramatic terrains imaginable. UNESCO granted the railway World Heritage status in 2021, recognizing the extraordinary scale of its construction and the remarkable engineering skill needed to navigate steep mountains, deep gorges, and harsh desert areas. The railway is more than just a logistical asset. It stands as a living monument to Iranian civilization and industrial ambition. Built from 1927 to 1938, it represents a significant chapter in the nation’s modern history.

Iran’s decision to engage UNESCO indicates a wider strategic aim to internationalize the conflict beyond military and diplomatic realms. This effort seeks to include global cultural institutions in the discussion. By framing the threat in terms of world heritage, Tehran is appealing to the international community’s conscience, arguing that some things go beyond politics and must be protected at all costs. UNESCO has not yet made a formal response, but pressure is growing for the agency to take a strong and clear position.

Iran’s ambassador to Kuwait has urgently called on Gulf nations to use their full diplomatic influence to prevent a dangerous escalation of the war. This comes as President Trump’s deadline for a deal on the Strait of Hormuz approaches. There is a looming threat of strikes on civilian infrastructure in the region.

Ambassador Mohammad Toutounji urged regional powers to take action, warning that not doing so could lead to disastrous consequences. “We hope that the countries in the region will use all their diplomatic and political capabilities to prevent such a tragedy from befalling the region,” he said, as reported by AFP. The ambassador’s plea occurs amidst a conflicting diplomatic situation. Kuwait has summoned Toutounji for the third time since the war began on February 28. They handed him a formal protest note addressing Iran’s ongoing attacks on Kuwaiti territory, including a strike on fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport.

Iran’s strikes have caused significant and ongoing damage in Kuwait. Iranian drone attacks have damaged two power and water desalination plants and ignited fires at two oil facilities, although no injuries have been reported. Other recent strikes resulted in a fire at the Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex and considerable damage to a government office complex. Iranian drones also targeted the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation headquarters, leading to serious material damage and fires at several operational sites.

The ambassador’s plea highlights Iran’s increasingly difficult position. It is carrying out devastating strikes against the very Gulf nations it is asking for mediation. Iran has rejected the latest US ceasefire proposal as Trump’s deadline nears. Both sides continue to exchange missile attacks, and diplomatic channels remain fragile. As the region braces for a potentially catastrophic new phase of the conflict, Toutounji’s appeal emphasizes Tehran’s urgent need for a diplomatic solution, even as its military actions continue to drive away the Gulf partners it is seeking to involve.

The financial cost of America’s military campaign against Iran is rising quickly. The United States has already spent over $42 billion on the conflict, which breaks down to an incredible $11,500 every second. This massive spending is attracting new attention both at home and abroad, raising serious questions about the economic and strategic soundness of a war that shows no clear signs of ending. To put this in perspective, $42 billion is more than the total annual GDP of many developing nations, all spent in a few weeks on military operations far from American territory.

At $11,500 per second, the cost of the war increases faster than most Americans earn in a month. Critics highlight the stark difference between the vast sums directed toward the conflict and the ongoing underfunding of domestic needs, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and veterans’ services. The economic impact goes well beyond military spending. Rising oil prices linked to the conflict are driving inflation in the United States and allied countries, quietly affecting everyday people at the gas station and grocery store. At the same time, defense contractors and weapons manufacturers are posting record profits, a common trend in U.S. military actions.

Historically, American wars have ended up being much more expensive than initially expected. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were first presented as quick and decisive actions but eventually cost American taxpayers trillions of dollars over two decades. With no clear conclusion in sight and the complexity of the conflict increasing daily, analysts caution that the $42 billion is just the beginning of a much larger and more expensive venture. The true cost, both financial and human, remains difficult to fully assess.

Iran’s nuclear chief has sent a strongly worded letter to the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He accused the United Nations nuclear watchdog of failing to respond decisively to military attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. He warned that this lack of action is encouraging further aggression.

The letter, addressed to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, pointed out the vulnerability of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. This is Iran’s main civilian nuclear facility located on the Persian Gulf coast. It serves as an example of a site that has become dangerously exposed due to what Tehran calls the agency’s silence and inaction.

Iran’s nuclear leadership argued that the IAEA’s failure to issue strong condemnations or take protective diplomatic steps after attacks on nuclear sites sends a dangerous message to aggressors. Essentially, it suggests that strikes on such facilities won’t lead to significant international consequences. Tehran believes this creates a troubling precedent, not just for Iran but for nuclear safety standards worldwide. The Bushehr plant, built with Russian help and in operation since 2011, is an important asset for civilian energy. Any military strike on or near the facility could lead to catastrophic humanitarian consequences for the surrounding area. It could also violate international law and nuclear safety agreements.

Iran’s decision to formally engage the IAEA reflects a deliberate diplomatic strategy. This approach puts the international community on alert and builds a legal and political record of what it calls institutional neglect. It also shows Tehran’s intention to bring its concerns to every available multilateral forum. The IAEA has not yet publicly responded to the letter. The international community is watching closely as one of the world’s most delicate nuclear hotspots becomes more unstable.

Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has strongly criticized the United States following an alleged bomb strike on Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology, calling the attack a sign of American “madness and ignorance.” In a passionate post on X, Aref, who is a Stanford University-educated engineer, targeted former President Donald Trump over the reported strike. “The bomb attack on Sharif University is a symbol of Trump’s madness and ignorance,” he wrote, expressing his outrage in one of the most direct official responses from Tehran.

Aref also defended Iran’s intellectual heritage against what he saw as cultural and scientific aggression. He stated that Iran’s knowledge cannot be confined within walls or concrete and, therefore, cannot be destroyed by bombs. “The true fortress is the will of our professors and elites,” he insisted, noting that no act of “barbarity” in history has ever succeeded in dividing science from the Iranian people.

The strike, which happened early Monday, has not been officially confirmed or commented on by the United States government, leaving its purpose and extent unclear. Sharif University of Technology is considered Iran’s top scientific institution, often compared to MIT for its research and technological contributions. However, the university has a history of controversy; several of its affiliated professors have been killed over the years, with Western and Israeli intelligence agencies accused of targeting academics thought to be connected to Iran’s nuclear program.

The reported attack on such a significant institution represents a serious and provocative moment in the growing tensions between Tehran and Washington, with Iranian officials indicating they will not be silenced or intimidated.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces have reported that airstrikes hit two of their headquarters in Nineveh and Tuz Khurmatu. This marks the latest episode in a rising campaign aimed at Iranian-aligned militia positions across the country. The group stated that no personnel were killed or injured in the strikes.

These strikes are reportedly part of a rapidly increasing pattern of attacks on PMF positions across Iraq since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28. By March 12, the PMF told the Iraqi News Agency that US forces had already conducted 32 airstrikes against PMF headquarters in seven Iraqi governorates—Anbar, Babylon, Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Wasit—since the war started. The PMF insisted that the targeted headquarters had “no role in attacking American bases inside or outside Iraq.”

The toll has been significant in recent weeks. On March 23, 15 PMF fighters, including a commander, were killed in a US airstrike on their base in Habbaniyah, located in Anbar Governorate. Then, on April 1, a strike on a PMF headquarters in Tel Afar District in Nineveh governorate resulted in the death of a commander and three fighters. In response to the increasing strikes, the Iraqi government has taken steps to reorganize security deployments. The Iraqi Army’s 16th Division has been ordered to take over responsibilities previously held by PMF units in the Nineveh Plains. This marks a significant assertion of state authority over the Iranian-aligned militias in one of Iraq’s most strategically important regions.

A senior Filipino Catholic leader has made a strong moral appeal to the American people. He urges them to use...

A senior Filipino Catholic leader has made a strong moral appeal to the American people. He urges them to use their collective power to stop what he calls a reckless and potentially catastrophic escalation of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan, Vice President of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences, published an open letter on Facebook. He warned that the burden of responsibility for the conflict cannot rest on one person alone. “A leader does not act alone. A leader is chosen, carried, and enabled,” he wrote, addressing his appeal not directly to Trump but to the American public.

Cardinal David criticized modern warfare that attacks “algorithm-generated targets” from “distant command centers.” He cautioned that it risks becoming dangerously detached from human reality. His critique highlights the growing technological and moral gap between decision-makers and the devastating results of their orders. In a powerful moment, the Cardinal referenced the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, warning against repeating a time when mass destruction was viewed as a victory. “You have crossed this line before. You know what it means to unleash destruction on that scale — and still call it victory. Will you do it again?” he asked.

His message comes as the Catholic Church’s global leadership has united in rare moral agreement against the conflict. Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington stated that the US decision to go to war with Iran “fails to meet the just war threshold for a morally legitimate war.” Meanwhile, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago described the White House’s comparison of the war to a video game as “sickening” and “a profound moral failure.”

Pope Leo XIV has also spoken out against the conflict, warning that the “spiral of violence” could become “an unbridgeable chasm,” and urging those responsible to “cease fire.” Cardinal David’s letter represents one of the clearest moral challenges to American citizens: remaining silent in the face of war is itself a choice.

Two people have been injured in the latest Iranian missile strike on central Israel, according to Israeli media reports. This...

Two people have been injured in the latest Iranian missile strike on central Israel, according to Israeli media reports. This missile attack is part of Tehran’s ongoing campaign against Israeli territory, which has now lasted for five weeks. Emergency medical service Magen David Adom confirmed that it treated a 52-year-old man hurt by a blast from an Iranian missile attack in central Israel. A 45-year-old man was lightly injured by shattered glass in Bnei Brak from the same strike.

The missile had a cluster bomb warhead that scattered submunitions over a large area in central Israel. The attack caused part of a building to collapse in Ramat Gan, according to Fire and Rescue services. A high-voltage power line was also damaged in Rosh Ha’ayin, leading to a power outage in parts of the city. The use of cluster munitions has become a frequent and controversial aspect of Iran’s attacks on Israel. By the tenth day of the war, nearly half of the approximately 300 missiles Iran has fired at Israel carried cluster submunitions. These weapons can spread dozens of explosive warheads over a radius of 10 kilometers. They are banned under international humanitarian law by the Convention on Cluster Munitions, a treaty signed by more than 100 countries, but not by Iran.

Despite weeks of US-Israeli strikes aimed at Iranian launch sites, Tehran’s missile capability remains strong. An Israeli Air Force intelligence officer noted that Iran still has more than 1,000 ballistic missiles that can reach Israel. This is down from about 2,500 at the start of the war. Iran is currently launching around 10 to 15 missiles per day at Israel, a significant decrease from about 90 on the first day of the conflict. Recent US intelligence reports suggest that around half of Iran’s missile launchers are still operational. There are also thousands of one-way attack drones in Tehran’s inventory. One source warned that Iran is still “poised to wreak absolute havoc” across the region.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has taken responsibility for a series of ballistic missile strikes targeting Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva, Tel Aviv, and Kiryat Shmona. They used Fateh-series missiles armed with cluster warheads. These weapons have become a key and highly controversial part of the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

Since the conflict started on February 28, Iran has fired cluster munitions at Israel almost every day. About half of all ballistic missiles launched at Israel have had cluster warheads. This design turns a single missile into dozens of small explosive charges that scatter over kilometers of urban areas.

The cluster warhead opens at about seven kilometers above ground, releasing smaller submunitions that cause damage over a wide area. The bomblets create large amounts of shrapnel that can travel at high speeds for many meters, and their blast waves are strong enough to flip vehicles. In Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv, an Iranian missile carrying a cluster bomb warhead spread bomblets across a large area. An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured, and 13 others suffered various injuries in that attack. In another strike, reports indicated seventeen impact sites across the central region following a cluster munition attack, causing damage to vehicles and buildings in multiple places.

Human Rights Watch confirmed that at least four civilians have died in Iranian cluster munition strikes since February. They described the attacks as violations of the laws of war that may be considered war crimes. The organization noted that Iran’s use of cluster munitions in populated areas creates a foreseeable and long-lasting danger to civilians.

The military advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a bold warning to the United States and Israel. He declared that Iran has been preparing for this conflict for years and that its military capabilities still hold surprises yet to be revealed. This statement shows that Tehran is far from exhausted despite weeks of intense bombardment.

The advisor’s statement comes as Iran enters its fifth week of war against the US-Israeli coalition. The regime projects resilience even while suffering heavy losses to its military and civilian infrastructure. The military advisor is Mohsen Rezaei, a 74-year-old founding member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who led it for 17 years, including during the brutal Iran-Iraq War. He has returned to advise the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, on military matters.

Rezaei’s warning reflects the broader stance Iran has taken throughout the conflict. New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated in his first message that Iranian officials were considering expanding the war to additional fronts where adversaries are “highly vulnerable,” warning that such actions would happen “if the state of war continues and if it serves our interests.” Before the conflict began, senior Iranian officials had warned that any military action would receive a “decisive” and “regret-inducing” response. They assured that Iran’s armed forces remained fully ready to counter external threats.

In response to the campaign, Iran has carried out sustained missile and drone strikes against Israel, US bases, and allied Gulf states. It has also closed the Strait of Hormuz, significantly disrupting global trade and energy markets. The advisor’s remarks deliver a clear message to Washington: despite the destruction, Iran does not see itself as broken, and it insists that its arsenal of responses is not yet empty.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sought to clarify what he sees as a misrepresentation of Tehran’s stance by US media. He reaffirmed Iran’s strong appreciation for Pakistan’s role in mediation, while also stating that his country’s diplomatic goal is not just a ceasefire; it is a permanent, legally binding resolution to what he describes as an “illegal war.”

In a post on X, Araghchi clearly stated, “What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us.” He pushed back against narratives suggesting that Iran is stubbornly avoiding engagement or ignoring Islamabad as a possible site for talks. This statement comes as diplomatic efforts intensify around Pakistan. Islamabad has become the center of a quickly developing diplomatic initiative, with officials indicating that talks between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Araghchi could happen within days, possibly in Pakistan.

Iran has outlined five conditions for ending the war: stopping aggression, providing concrete guarantees to prevent a future war, ensuring payment for war damages and compensation, a total end to the fighting on all fronts including against all resistance groups, and acknowledging Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi admitted that messages have been shared with US special envoy Steve Witkoff, but he stressed that “there are no grounds for negotiations” in a formal context. He described these exchanges as passing messages rather than direct conversations.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has explained his country’s role in facilitating indirect communications between Washington and Tehran. Islamabad serves as an important link at a time when direct contact between the two sides remains very limited. As both sides stiffen their demands, Araghchi’s statement indicates that Tehran is closely monitoring the diplomatic landscape, yet it refuses to engage from a position it views as one of defeat.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway carrying nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, has become a flashpoint in the ongoing Iran conflict. European leaders are finding it increasingly difficult to agree on a coordinated response to reopen the critical shipping route, which Iran has effectively blocked in retaliation for U.S.-Israeli military actions.

This impasse highlights deep divisions within Europe, compounded by pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly criticized NATO allies for refusing to send warships or commit military assets immediately. While some European nations are exploring diplomatic and post-conflict options, others remain firmly opposed to direct involvement, citing risks of escalation and domestic opposition.

Why the Strait of Hormuz Matters for Europe and the Global Economy

The Strait of Hormuz serves as the primary chokepoint for oil and gas exports from the Persian Gulf. Its disruption has triggered soaring energy prices across Europe, with reports of oil prices jumping significantly and gas costs rising sharply. This has fueled inflation concerns, higher fuel bills for households, and fears of broader economic fallout, including potential food shortages due to stalled fertilizer shipments.

European countries, heavily reliant on imported energy, face a double bind: inaction risks voter backlash over rising living costs, while joining military efforts could drag them into a conflict many view as “not our war.”

A previous meeting of EU leaders failed to reach an agreement on the issue. There was little support for expanding the European Union Naval Force in the Red Sea to include the strait. Individual European countries have also taken very different stances. German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stated there would be “no military participation” from Berlin, questioning what European frigates could achieve that the powerful US Navy could not. A spokesman for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz insisted the conflict “has nothing to do with NATO,” describing the alliance as one meant only for territorial defense.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas confirmed after a meeting in Brussels that member states showed “no appetite” for extending the EU’s Aspides naval mission to include the strait. She stated clearly, “Nobody wants to go actively into this war.” Iran has made any potential mission more complicated by stating that it wants any ceasefire agreement to recognize its sovereignty over the waterway. This condition is one that few Western nations could accept. The situation in Hormuz has created the most serious internal crisis in NATO’s history. Former President Trump’s threat to withdraw from the alliance has raised doubts about the long-term future of the transatlantic partnership.

A paramedic with the Iranian Red Crescent Society was killed in an attack on Mobarakeh city in Isfahan Province, central Iran. This incident is part of the ongoing violence against humanitarian workers trying to provide life-saving help during the US-Israeli military campaign against the country.

Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that a Red Crescent worker was killed by an American-Israeli strike in Isfahan. This event contributes to a troubling trend of losses among Iran’s emergency response teams since the conflict started. The IFRC mourned the death of Alireza Sohbatlou, a 35-year-old relief worker who died on 31 March in an airstrike in Zanjan province. He was the third Iranian Red Crescent volunteer killed in just one month of conflict.

Earlier, on 27 March, Dr. Somayeh Mir Abo Eshagh, a 44-year-old volunteer from Khansar in Isfahan Province with 22 years of service, was killed during airstrikes while performing humanitarian duties. She became the second Red Crescent volunteer to be killed since the war began. The first was Hamidreza Jahanbakhsh, also from Isfahan Province, who was killed on 8 March during a search and rescue operation in Tiran-o-Korun. These killings have received strong condemnation from the international humanitarian community. The IFRC emphasized that the Red Crescent emblem represents protection, humanity, neutrality, and hope. They asserted that volunteers and staff must never be targeted while carrying out life-saving work.

Isfahan Province has suffered significant strikes throughout the conflict. This province is a major industrial center, home to the steel sector and several nuclear facilities. Israeli strikes have caused considerable damage to the Mobarakeh Steel Company, one of the Middle East’s biggest flat steel producers and a key regional employer. Since late February, devastating strikes across Iran have resulted in hundreds of deaths, thousands of injuries, and the disruption of essential services for up to 60 million people.

A significant earthquake shook the Santa Cruz area of California in the early hours of Thursday, April 2, 2026. It jolted residents from their sleep and sent tremors across a crowded part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The quake was initially reported at a magnitude of 5.0 by the United States Geological Survey. It hit at 1:41 am local time at a shallow depth of 5.6 miles, about 11 miles northwest of Santa Cruz. Seismologists later revised these figures, lowering the magnitude to 5.0 and the depth to 6.7 miles, with the epicenter adjusted slightly to the northwest near Brookdale.

The shallow depth of the quake made its impact stronger. Shallow earthquakes release more energy to the surface, so residents felt more intense shaking than they would from a deeper quake of similar size. Moderate shaking was reported in Brookdale, which is just one mile from the epicenter. Light shaking was felt across a wide area that included Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and San Jose, home to nearly one million people. Weak shaking may have been felt as far away as San Francisco, around 49 miles from the epicenter.

This earthquake was the strongest to hit this region of California in over three years, with the last similar event being a magnitude 5.0 quake on October 25, 2022, located 12 miles east of San Jose. The Santa Cruz region is in one of California’s most earthquake-prone zones, with most residents living within 15 miles of a capable fault. The area is often affected by the San Andreas Fault, which caused the destructive 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. No casualties or major structural damage have been reported so far. Aftershocks are expected in the coming days near the fault zone.

Iran has refused to accept America’s conditions for ending the war. Sources close to President Donald Trump told Axios that Tehran does not see itself as a defeated power. This belief has become the main barrier to any negotiated settlement. The situation reveals a basic disconnect at the heart of the stalled diplomacy. Washington views the military campaign as a serious blow against the Iranian regime, while Tehran seems to reach a very different conclusion from the battlefield.

Trump recently posted on Truth Social that Iran “is totally defeated and wants a deal, but not a deal that I would accept.” Analysts point out that the Iranian regime just needs to survive to claim victory. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt warned that if Iran “fails to accept the reality and fails to understand that they have been defeated, President Trump will ensure they will be hit harder than they have ever been hit before,” adding that “the President doesn’t bluff and is ready to unleash hell.” Iran’s stance has also become more rigid. Iranian officials told mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey that US military actions and Trump’s decision to boost troop numbers have heightened their suspicion that his call for peace talks is just a trick.

Iran has indicated, through Egypt and Qatar, that it is open to negotiations, but on very tough terms. These include a full ceasefire, binding guarantees that the war will not restart, and financial compensation. Some in Trump’s inner circle feel what one official described as “buyer’s remorse.” They worry that attacking Iran was a mistake and that Trump “grossly overestimated his ability to topple the regime without sending in ground troops.” With both sides unwilling to back down, the chance for diplomacy seems narrower than ever.

An entire family, including a man, his wife, and their two daughters, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the district of Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. This attack highlights the worsening humanitarian crisis as the country’s death toll continues to rise.

According to Al Jazeera, Lebanon’s overall death toll has reached 1,318 since the conflict began. Among the dead are at least 125 children, prompting strong international condemnation. The number of injured in four weeks of fighting is now close to 4,000.

Southern Lebanon is the center of Israel’s ongoing ground invasion, which has been in effect for several weeks. Israeli airstrikes have relentlessly targeted towns and villages in the south, as the military advances in what it calls focused operations against Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel. Hezbollah has not shown any signs of reducing its own attacks. The Iran-backed militant group continued to launch strikes against Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory, especially around the town of Antara, where it has targeted Israeli troops with rockets. The group also reported artillery and drone attacks as part of its ongoing efforts.

In addition, Hezbollah has persisted in firing rockets and drones into northern Israel, stating that these strikes target Israeli military personnel, bases, and barracks across the border. The ongoing attacks have forced tens of thousands of residents in northern Israel to remain away from their homes. As civilian casualties rise and a ceasefire seems unlikely, there is increasing pressure on the international community to take diplomatic action as Lebanon prepares for further escalation.

India’s defence exports have reached a remarkable milestone, totaling ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26. This marks the highest figure ever recorded, as announced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The number shows a strong 62.66% growth compared to the previous fiscal year, highlighting India’s rapid rise as a global defence manufacturing leader.

On social media, Singh attributed this success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing it as “an impressive defence exports success story.” The significant increase of ₹14,802 crore from last year’s ₹23,622 crore reflects growing global trust in India’s local defence capabilities and manufacturing strength.

This milestone is especially important in its breakdown. Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) accounted for 54.84% of the total exports, while the private sector contributed a notable 45.16%. This illustrates the increasing role of India’s private defence industry and the effectiveness of the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) initiative. India’s defence export growth in recent years shows a clear trend: from ₹12,014 crore in FY 2021-22 to ₹15,918 crore in FY 2022-23, ₹21,083 crore in FY 2023-24, ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024-25, and now the record ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26.

The government’s “Make in India, Make for the World” policy has played a key role in this change, with products like BrahMos missiles, advanced helicopters, naval vessels, and ammunition systems seeing increasing international demand. India now exports defence equipment to over 85 countries, securing its place as a credible and competitive player in the global arms market.

Iranian air defense units in the northeastern city of Mashhad intercepted hostile targets, according to local reports. This indicates that the US-Israeli military campaign has reached one of Iran’s key eastern cities, which is home to millions of pilgrims and an important military site.

The interception shows a significant geographical expansion of the conflict. The combined US-Israeli force likely struck the 14th Artesh Air Force Tactical Airbase in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, on March 25. This marks it as the most northeastern site targeted by the combined force since the war began. An Iranian open-source intelligence account also shared a photo of strikes near Mashhad International Airport around the same time. The tactical airbase is located close to the civilian airport.

The combined force has gradually moved across Iran from west to east. They have targeted a wide range of Iranian defense industrial sites to weaken missile and drone production capabilities. The IDF has attacked over 1,000 Iranian weapons production locations during the war. Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city and a major Shia religious center, holds strategic importance due to its location near Iran’s eastern borders. Its air defense actions highlight how the conflict, which began with joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28, 2026, has shifted from targeting Tehran and western Iran to systematically damaging infrastructure throughout the entire country.

US Central Command has continued to hit Iranian air and air defense capabilities to keep air dominance over Iranian territory. There have been multiple strikes on military airbases in recent weeks, including repeated attacks on the 9th Artesh Air Force Tactical Airbase in Bandar Abbas. President Trump previously stated that Iran’s radar and air defense systems had been mostly destroyed and that its missile capacity had dropped by 90 percent. The recent interceptions over Mashhad suggest that Iran still has some defensive capability in its eastern regions, even as the coalition’s strikes push further into its territory.

French Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces Alice Rufo firmly stated on Wednesday that NATO has no mandate to conduct operations in the Strait of Hormuz if they do not fully comply with international law.

Speaking at the War and Peace Forum in Paris, Rufo emphasized that the Atlantic alliance is designed exclusively to defend the Euro-Atlantic area, not to intervene in Middle East maritime security crises.

Her comments come amid escalating tensions following U.S. President Donald Trump’s sharp criticism of NATO allies. Trump revealed he is seriously considering withdrawing the United States from NATO, accusing the alliance of failing to support American efforts to secure transit through the vital Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing conflicts in the region.

Trump’s Frustration with Allies

US President Trump’s frustration boiled over after several NATO members, including France, declined to join U.S.-led efforts to keep the strait open for commercial traffic. In recent statements, Trump described the alliance as ineffective in addressing global challenges beyond Europe and hinted at a major policy shift regarding America’s commitment to NATO.

This latest rift highlights deepening transatlantic divides, especially as the U.S. has been engaged in military operations linked to Iran, with the Hormuz situation emerging as a key point of contention.

European leaders have generally called for de-escalation, respect for international law, and diplomatic solutions rather than broadening NATO’s operational scope.

A senior adviser to President Donald Trump has pointed out a significant difference between Washington and its Gulf allies regarding the endgame of the Iran war, stating Axios that Saudi Arabia wants a much harsher military outcome than what the White House is willing to pursue.

“The Saudis sound like Mark Levin,” the adviser said. “They want the U.S. to finish the job by wiping Iran off the earth now. We don’t want to.”These remarks refer to Fox News host Mark Levin, a conservative commentator who has gained influence over Trump’s approach to the conflict. Trump himself directed his followers to watch Levin’s show on Truth Social, saying it would “discuss the importance of hitting Iran, HARD!!!” During the broadcast, Levin suggested sending specialized U.S. troops into Iran to secure the country’s stockpile of enriched uranium.

Despite the aggressive talk surrounding him, the adviser’s comment shows that the White House does not share the views of the more extreme voices in the discussion. Trump is considering exit strategies, including the possibility of leaving while the Strait of Hormuz is closed and without a deal, but he is also gathering more forces in the region, which looks like the preparation for an invasion. “He doesn’t want to put boots on the ground,” one adviser said. “And when he doesn’t want to do something, he goes to great lengths not to do it.”

However, the situation on the ground remains very complex. Despite Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stating that Iran’s military is “neutralized,” Iranian missiles later hit a base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 29 American soldiers and damaging U.S. refueling and surveillance aircraft. The main reason for the war — eliminating Iran’s nuclear threat — is still not resolved. Trump is now considering a risky ground operation to take control of Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium. These comments highlight the growing tension between Gulf allies eager for a decisive action and a White House looking for an exit plan.

The Israeli Navy has killed Hezbollah’s Southern Front Commander, Hajj Youssef Ismail Hashem, in a targeted strike in Beirut, according to the Israel Defense Forces. This operation is one of the most significant blows to Hezbollah’s military structure during the ongoing regional conflict.

The IDF Spokesperson noted that Hashem led one of Hezbollah’s most essential units. The Southern Front carries out terrorist activities against Israel and engages directly with IDF forces in southern Lebanon. Hashem personally directed rocket and drone attacks on Israeli territory and played a key role in leading Hezbollah’s military recovery efforts after the group suffered severe losses during the 2024 war.

The IDF described Hashem as a commander with over 40 years of experience and a crucial part of the terror organization, highlighting the importance of his death. His long involvement in Hezbollah’s operations made him one of the group’s most skilled and indispensable military leaders. This strike is part of Israel’s ongoing effort to weaken Hezbollah’s command structure. Earlier in the conflict, the IDF confirmed the killing of Hussein Makled, who was the head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters. He was responsible for giving the group intelligence regarding IDF movements and Israeli territory.

Israel resumed ground operations in southern Lebanon on 16 March 2026, after Hezbollah decided to break its ceasefire with Israel by launching strikes in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The IDF has said it will not let Hezbollah rebuild its forces and has killed over 400 Hezbollah operatives since the November 2024 ceasefire began. The death of Hashem is likely to significantly disrupt Hezbollah’s southern operations and rocket capabilities at this critical point in the war.

Bahrain’s military announced that its air defense systems have successfully intercepted 186 missiles and 419 drones fired by Iran since the conflict began in the Middle East. In an official statement, the Bahraini military urged the public to stay away from damaged areas and “suspicious objects.” They also warned residents not to take pictures of debris from interception sites.

These figures show a significant increase from earlier counts. Official reports had previously noted 174 missiles and 391 drones intercepted since the war began, which highlights the growing intensity of attacks on the small Gulf kingdom. Iran’s retaliation against Bahrain started on February 28, 2026, after a coordinated missile operation by the United States and Israel struck several targets in Iran. Iranian forces responded with airstrikes across the Persian Gulf, hitting various countries in the region.

Bahrain has faced some of the most aggressive attacks due to its strategic significance. The kingdom hosts the US Navy’s 5th Fleet, and video footage showed that parts of the fleet’s headquarters were hit during the initial Iranian assault. Iranian drones hit Sitra Island, an important industrial area that contains the BAPCO oil refinery, with officials confirming attacks on the Al Maameer oil facility. A separate drone strike on Sitra injured 32 people. In one of the deadliest attacks, a drone struck a residential building in the Al Seef area of Manama, killing a 29-year-old woman and injuring eight others.

Bahrain performed the fewest interceptions among Gulf states in the early days of the conflict and faced damage in Manama, at the airport, and near the US Fifth Fleet facilities. As the toll continues to rise, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant due to the ongoing threat of further strikes.

The statement by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the Middle East conflict is “not our war” shows a careful and measured approach to foreign policy amid rising global tensions. As the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel escalates in 2026, Britain has decided to limit its role. The focus is on national interest, economic stability, and strategic restraint.

Starmer has repeatedly stated that the United Kingdom will not be “dragged” into the conflict. This highlights a clear line between defensive support and active military involvement. This stance comes despite pressure from allies, especially the United States, which has called for more engagement from NATO partners. Many countries, including the UK, have resisted these demands, indicating a broader hesitance among Western allies to escalate the war. However, Britain’s position does not mean complete disengagement. The UK has allowed limited defensive cooperation, such as using bases for protective operations and deploying forces to maintain regional stability. At the same time, officials have emphasized the need to follow international law and avoid a wider regional war.

On the home front, Starmer’s stance matches public feelings. Polls show that a significant part of the British population opposes involvement in the conflict. There are worries about economic impacts and the risk of another long military engagement. These worries are justified, as the conflict has already led to rising oil prices and economic uncertainty in the UK and worldwide. Internationally, the Prime Minister’s comments reveal growing tensions in traditional alliances. Strains between the UK and the US have become apparent, especially as Washington takes a more aggressive military approach. Starmer’s refusal to fully align with US strategy indicates a move toward a more independent British foreign policy.

Tehran, the capital of Iran with a population of nine million, has plunged into a widespread blackout following a series...

Tehran, the capital of Iran with a population of nine million, has plunged into a widespread blackout following a series of explosions reported throughout the city. This marks one of the most significant hits on the city’s civilian and energy infrastructure since the war began.

Residents across various districts in Tehran described a sudden and complete loss of power after hearing explosions echoing in the city. The scale of the outage, affecting large sections of the capital at once, suggests strikes on critical power generation or transmission infrastructure rather than isolated attacks.

Tehran has faced repeated attacks during the conflict. Previous strikes targeted oil storage depots in the city, creating massive clouds of black smoke and causing what residents called black rain over crowded neighborhoods. However, tonight’s blackout represents a different kind of escalation. It directly impacts the daily lives of millions who rely on electricity for basic needs like heating, water pumping, hospital operations, and communication. Attacks on power infrastructure in a large city like Tehran have immediate and severe humanitarian effects. Hospitals that need electrical supply are at risk of potentially life-threatening disruptions. Water treatment and distribution systems, which depend on electric pumps, face similar dangers. For a civilian population already suffering through weeks of sustained attacks, a citywide blackout adds a new and alarming layer to the crisis.

Iranian authorities have not yet provided an official statement on the cause or extent of the blackout. It is still unclear if the power outage resulted from direct strikes on power plants or transmission lines, or from secondary damage caused by nearby explosions. The situation in Tehran remains uncertain and rapidly changing.

The Israeli military has released the results of an investigation into how its soldiers treated journalists in the occupied West...

The Israeli military has released the results of an investigation into how its soldiers treated journalists in the occupied West Bank. Military chief Eyal Zamir called the incident a “serious ethical incident” after a CNN crew was detained and physically assaulted by Israeli forces while reporting in the area.

The investigation, conducted by the Israeli army, found “several failures in the conduct of the soldiers toward the reporters.” As a result, the operational use of the reserve battalion involved will be stopped. The unit will go into reserve service and undergo an internal review and improvement process to strengthen professional skills and compliance with rules and standards, according to the military.

The incident became public after CNN shared video footage of the encounter. In the video, Israeli soldiers made comments reflecting settler ideology. They claimed that the entire West Bank belongs to Israel and the Jewish people, referred to all Palestinians collectively as “terrorists,” and said that taking revenge for a settler’s killing was justified. The soldiers were filmed detaining and assaulting the CNN crew during what was a routine reporting assignment. The case has drawn strong international attention and raised serious questions about press freedom, military discipline, and the culture within some Israeli reserve units in the West Bank, where settler violence has dramatically increased in recent months.

Critics noted the limitations of the military’s response. Historically, a large majority of Israeli military investigations into alleged violations have concluded without significant consequences for the soldiers involved. Human rights organizations argue this pattern creates a culture of impunity, especially regarding actions aligned with settlers in the occupied territory. No individual soldiers have been named or charged related to the assault.

Hezbollah has claimed a series of rocket and missile attacks targeting Israeli military bases, troops, and defense installations in northern Israel and southern Lebanon during a coordinated morning assault. The Lebanese armed group continues to maintain an aggressive operational pace against Israeli forces.

The attacks began early in the morning when Hezbollah launched a rocket strike on Israeli soldiers stationed at the settlement of Avivim at 6:00 AM. Minutes later, at 6:30 AM, rockets were fired at Israeli soldiers and vehicles in the strategic border town of Al Malikiya, followed almost immediately by another strike on Kiryat Shmona, one of northern Israel’s largest cities, at 6:40 AM. The assault intensified in the Al-Aadaissah area of southern Lebanon, where two separate rocket attacks targeted Israeli soldiers in the Khanouq area at 8:15 AM and 8:20 AM. These back-to-back strikes suggest a deliberate effort to overwhelm Israeli response and interception capabilities in the region.

The most significant strike of the morning occurred at 4:30 AM when a missile targeted the Mishmar al-Karmel missile defense installation located south of Haifa. This attack on an Israeli missile defense asset clearly shows Hezbollah’s intent to degrade Israel’s air defense systems. This approach indicates a calculated and increasingly complex tactic that goes beyond simple retaliatory rocket fire.

The strikes cover a wide geographic area, from the southern Lebanese border towns of Al-Aadaissah and Al Malikiya, through northern Israeli communities like Avivim and Kiryat Shmona, all the way to Haifa. This demonstrates Hezbollah’s ability to strike simultaneously across multiple fronts and at various ranges. Israel has not yet issued an official response to the morning’s attacks. These strikes occur as ground operations in southern Lebanon continue, while diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire remain stalled.

A disturbing case of mob violence has emerged from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where a 16-year-old boy was reportedly beaten to death with sticks over suspicions of stealing a mobile phone. The event took place in the Panditpur locality, under the Rohaniya police station. A minor named Sonu Ali was allegedly attacked by a group of individuals who accused him of stealing a mobile phone.

The victim, Sonu Ali, who is 16 years old, was at home on Saturday night when six people broke in and confronted him about a stolen mobile phone. His mother filed a complaint stating that the group, led by Ramesh, also known as Bablu Patel, pulled the teenager from his house to an underpass near a petrol pump in Panditpur. There, they violently attacked him with sticks, leaving him in critical condition. Following the assault, the accused was taken to Bhadwar police outpost, where they continued to press theft allegations. Police took Ali to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
