In a renewed declaration of defiance, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, an amalgamation of ethnic minority insurgent groups in Myanmar on Wednesday, 13th December restated its commitment to overthrowing the ruling military junta, describing it as a dictatorship. This announcement comes just days after the military claimed to have engaged in China-mediated talks with the rebel factions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past six weeks, the conflict has intensified in Myanmar, particularly near the northern border with China, where the Three Brotherhood Alliance has organized coordinated attacks on military targets. This offensive has not only intensified the ongoing struggle against the junta but has also encouraged pro-democracy militias, marking a significant challenge to the military regime since the 2021 coup.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the Three Brotherhood Alliance acknowledged significant progress, the statement on the social media platform, X, emphasized that achieving their complete goals would require additional time and sustained efforts. The rebels, however, refrained from explicitly mentioning the reported talks with the military.<\/span><\/p>\n
