\u201cThe Republic of Korea is in an unprecedentedly serious situation,\u201d Choi stated, referencing global shifts in trade and security, as well as the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol following his controversial martial law declaration on December 3.<\/p>\n
Choi assumed the role of acting president on December 27 after Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who had been filling the post since Yoon\u2019s suspension on December 14, was also impeached. Choi now holds multiple critical positions, including acting prime minister and deputy prime minister for economic affairs.<\/p>\n
