Resilience, security, and connectivity were underscored as key priorities for U.S.-Taiwan relations, according to American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Director Raymond Greene. Speaking at a New Taipei event on Saturday, 14 September, organised by the Forward Alliance think tank, Greene highlighted the importance of these aspects amid rising global challenges, as reported by Radio Taiwan International.<\/p>\n
Greene noted that enhancing Taiwan\u2019s resilience would not only benefit the country but also strengthen global security and prosperity. Taiwan\u2019s integral role in global supply chains makes its stability a matter of international concern. He further emphasised the importance of disaster response coordination, citing Taiwan\u2019s experience in managing emergencies. This expertise, he suggested, could be applied to fields such as cybersecurity, telecommunications, and energy.<\/p>\n
The AIT director also drew attention to the need for energy resilience, particularly in response to crises. Greene stressed that bolstering Taiwan\u2019s energy infrastructure could benefit the climate, economy, and energy security. Moreover, medical responses during emergencies were also identified as a priority in U.S.-Taiwan collaboration.<\/p>\n
Forward Alliance\u2019s role in improving coordination between government bodies, NGOs, and the private sector was praised by Greene, who believes such partnerships are essential to ensuring effective disaster management. He suggested that Taiwan\u2019s model could be replicated in other regions to strengthen emergency responses on a broader scale.<\/p>\n
