The city, instead, extended an invitation to the Permanent General Mission of Palestine in Japan, with a senior official expected to attend.<\/p>\n
Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki defended the decision, emphasizing that it was made to preserve the ceremony\u2019s focus on peace rather than to spark political discord. \u201cI made a difficult decision not for political reasons but to ensure the ceremony can be conducted peacefully,\u201d Suzuki stated.<\/p>\n
