\u201cI believe we are passing through an era of big global disruptions,\u201d stated Gen. Chauhan. \u201cIt is technological, economic, climate change, migration of people, peace, and security. There are conflicts in Myanmar, Sudan, and Congo. The war may have settled down in Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Armenia, but lasting peace is still elusive. The world is in its most violent phase since World War II.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gen. Chauhan highlighted the impact of these disruptions on global supply chains, particularly in the defence sector. \u201cGlobal supply chains are being affected, and there is a gap between demand and supply in defence supplies. These disruptions have given us an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
He commended FICCI for its pivotal role in addressing these challenges. \u201cI am happy that FICCI has been focusing on it. FICCI has been an important bridge, contributing to synergizing the efforts of various stakeholders in defence manufacturing. They have also boosted \u2018Atmanirbharta\u2019 (self-reliance) and \u2018Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas\u2019 (collective effort, inclusive growth).\u201d<\/p>\n
The CDS\u2019s remarks come at a crucial time as India seeks to strengthen its defence capabilities amidst global uncertainties.
