Ma emphasized the importance of regional peace and prosperity, advocating for increased efforts from countries like the U.S. and other allies of Taiwan to promote dialogue between Taipei and Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>During his remarks, Ma referenced his April meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, where he highlighted that war in the Taiwan Strait would cause immense suffering for people on both sides. He described Xi as modest and full of goodwill towards the Taiwanese people, asserting that Xi is willing to negotiate sincerely, provided Taiwan accepts Beijing\u2019s assertion that it is part of China.<\/p>\n<p>Ma expressed his disappointment with the current administration\u2019s stance, stating that he felt sad, disgusted, and worried about its \u201ccontemptuous attitude\u201d towards Chinese culture. When asked about the possibility of future conflict, Ma acknowledged his concerns but believed the likelihood of war remains low.
