The Justice and Development Party (AK Party), one of Turkey\u2019s most influential political organizations, is set to commemorate its 23rd anniversary on August 14. Erdo\u011fan has instructed his aides to be cautious with new admissions, emphasizing that only those committed to the party\u2019s principles should be accepted. There is also speculation that new admissions might be possible in October.<\/p>\n
Such transitions could significantly alter the composition of Parliament. Nine lawmakers who left the IP, the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA), and the Democrat Party (DP) are expected to initiate a new movement. If the anticipated shift of three lawmakers to the AK Party occurs, it could lead to the dissolution of the FP and SP parliamentary groups due to unmet quotas.<\/p>\n
With over 11 million members, the AK Party holds the largest membership base among Turkish political parties. Established by former members of the Virtue Party (FP), it was initially seen as a fleeting political entity.
