Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has threatened to take legal action against Delhi government ministers for allegedly spreading \u201clies\u201d about her in relation to an assault case against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s aide.<\/p>\n
The controversy stems from Maliwal filing a police complaint accusing Kumar of misbehaving and pushing her at Kejriwal\u2019s residence during a meeting on January 16. Kumar was subsequently arrested but released on bail.<\/p>\n
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Maliwal refuted claims made by some AAP leaders that she had lodged the complaint at the behest of the BJP after a corruption case was filed against her by Delhi\u2019s vigilance department.<\/p>\n
Maliwal wrote that the Delhi government ministers are spreading lies about her in the media and that she filed a complaint against AAP leader Bibhav on the directions of the BJP due to a fake corruption case against her.<\/p>\n
The AAP MP, who also chairs the Delhi Commission for Women, warned that if the allegations against her are not withdrawn, she will initiate defamation proceedings against the ministers making such claims.<\/p>\n
Maliwal, 39, was elected to the Rajya Sabha last year on an AAP ticket. She has been a vocal advocate for women\u2019s rights and ran the Mahila Insaf Morcha before joining the party.<\/p>\n
The ruling AAP has accused the BJP of interfering in the assault case against Kumar due to the corruption allegations against Maliwal that sparked friction between the two parties.<\/p>\n
Delhi\u2019s Chief Minister\u2019s Office did not respond immediately to requests for comment on Maliwal\u2019s legal threats over the matter.<\/p>\n
