{"id":16810,"date":"2024-05-11T18:35:15","date_gmt":"2024-05-11T13:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asia.businessupturn.com\/?p=16810"},"modified":"2024-05-11T18:35:15","modified_gmt":"2024-05-11T13:05:15","slug":"russia-claims-inflicting-heavy-losses-on-ukrainian-forces-in-intense-battles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.businessupturn.com\/asia\/northern-asia\/russia\/russia-claims-inflicting-heavy-losses-on-ukrainian-forces-in-intense-battles\/16810\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia claims inflicting heavy losses on Ukrainian forces in intense battles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The Russian Defence Ministry provided an update on its military operations in Ukraine during a briefing on Friday, claiming to have inflicted significant losses on Ukrainian forces amid heavy fighting across multiple fronts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">According to Russian military officials, Ukrainian casualties amounted to 300 soldiers killed in clashes over the past day in the zone of responsibility of the \u201cZapad\u201d (West) Battlegroup operating in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Further Russian claims include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-disc pl-8 space-y-2 -mt-1\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Units from the \u201cYug\u201d (South) Battlegroup improved positions along the frontlines and repelled four attacks by Ukrainian troops.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">In the Donetsk People\u2019s Republic, Russian forces thwarted 10 Ukrainian attacks near the settlements of Ocheretino, Semenovka, Solovyevo, Netaylovo and Berdychi.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The \u201cTsentr\u201d (Center) Battlegroup\u2019s operations resulted in 390 Ukrainian soldiers killed over 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The \u201cSever\u201d (North) Battlegroup inflicted 170 casualties on Ukrainian forces in one day, capturing 34 soldiers as prisoners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The Russian figures could not be independently verified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Both sides have made competing claims of gains and losses as the fighting rages, particularly in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine which has become the main focal point of the conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Ukraine continues to receive heavy weapons from Western allies in efforts to stall Russia\u2019s offensive and potentially launch counterattacks to reclaim occupied territories.
