The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is expanding its fleet with the acquisition of new ships and aircraft. The ICG deploys 50-60 ships and 10-12 aircraft daily, and the expansion includes the construction of 21 ships, with a focus on Pollution Control Vessels for combating marine pollution.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the induction of 16 DHRUV MK-III aircraft, the conclusion of a contract for two additional Dornier aircraft, and ongoing negotiations for nine DHRUV aircraft reflect the comprehensive efforts to strengthen the fleet.<\/p>\n

The ICG is actively pursuing the procurement of eight Dornier aircraft and six Multi-Mission Maritime Surveillance aircraft, aiming to enhance its operational capabilities. Additionally, six Dornier aircraft have undergone upgrades with advanced systems and sensors as part of the ICG Dornier Mid-Life Upgrade contract with HAL, Kanpur, contributing to the modernization of the ICG aircraft fleet.<\/p>\n

Notably, the majority of the ICG\u2019s assets are indigenously manufactured, aligning with the \u201cMake in India\u201d initiative. Approximately 90% of the capital budget is allocated to indigenous assets, emphasizing self-reliance and promoting the domestic defence industry. This commitment to indigenous production aligns with India\u2019s broader strategic vision for a robust and self-sufficient defence apparatus.<\/p>\n

In a significant step towards digital transformation, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and TCIL (Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd) have entered into a transformative agreement to accomplish the Digital Coast Guard (DCG) mission. This initiative reflects the Indian government\u2019s vision for a \u201cDigital Armed Force\u201d and aims to streamline operations by transitioning towards paperless offices within the Coast Guard.<\/p>\n
