In his address in Delhi on Sunday, PM Modi acknowledged the challenges faced within the current Supreme Court infrastructure and emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to addressing them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his speech, PM Modi noted his awareness of the issues encountered within the existing Supreme Court premises and revealed that the government had approved an amount of Rs 800 crore for the expansion of the Supreme Court building complex the previous week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM Modi further elaborated on the legislative reforms aimed at modernizing India\u2019s legal framework, highlighting the government\u2019s initiative to replace colonial-era criminal laws with contemporary statutes such as the \u2018Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,\u2019 \u2018Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita,\u2019 and \u2018Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.\u2019 He emphasized that these reforms marked a transformative phase in India\u2019s legal and law enforcement systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He urged the Supreme Court to also come forward for a similar capacity-building exercise, citing the transformative impact of such reforms on legal policing and investigative systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In line with the government\u2019s efforts to streamline judicial processes, PM Modi introduced the Jan Vishwas Bill, aimed at reducing the burden on the judicial system. He emphasized that such measures were crucial for ensuring a reliable and efficient judicial apparatus in the country. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He asserted that the Jan Vishwas Bill represented a step towards this goal, as it would alleviate unnecessary burdens on the judicial system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, PM Modi underscored the pivotal role of contemporary laws in shaping India\u2019s trajectory on the global stage, affirming that the legislative reforms introduced today would contribute to the nation\u2019s future prosperity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He remarked that laws made today would brighten the future of India, underscoring the significance of progressive legal frameworks in India\u2019s development narrative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud also addressed the gathering, shedding light on the democratization of access to justice facilitated by advancements in technology. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He lauded the increase in e-filing of cases, which he remarked had streamlined the process and enhanced accessibility for litigants. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He highlighted the efficiency gains achieved through digitalization, noting that nearly 1,28,000 e-filings had been completed thus far.
