This shift in focus was highlighted earlier this week by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who addressed the IDF’s 9th Brigade. Gallant noted that the strategic "center of gravity" is now shifting towards the northern border, with Israeli forces concluding operations in the south and preparing for further actions in the north. He emphasized that the IDF's focus would be on restoring security and enabling residents to return to their homes, underscoring the seriousness of the northern front's military importance.

The imperative of monitoring Hezbollah for Middle East stability

Recent events have highlighted Hezbollah's aggressive posture. On October 7, as Hamas launched a major assault from Gaza, Hezbollah was preparing its own offensive against Israel. Although the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had weakened Hezbollah's capabilities and delayed the northern front's expansion, the threat from this militant group remains severe. Since October 8, Hezbollah has executed over 2,700 attacks on northern Israel, including 1,000 UAVs and 10,000 anti-tank missiles and rockets, resulting in 25 civilian and 20 military casualties, and displacing approximately 60,000 Israelis.
