Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet with President Droupadi Murmu in a significant diplomatic engagement. During the meeting, President Murmu highlighted the pivotal role of Vietnam in India’s Act East Policy and its importance as a partner in the Indo-Pacific Vision.
President Murmu underscored that Vietnam is a crucial pillar of India’s strategic approach in the region, noting that the relationship between the two countries is anchored in a deep-seated cultural, historical, and civilizational connection. She emphasized that these ties are characterized by mutual trust and understanding, which form the basis of the bilateral partnership.
Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary (East) says, “Vietnam is one of our closest partners and a pillar of our Act East policy.Vietnam today is a rapidly growing economy. Our bilateral trade is about 15 billion dollars and this can be significantly increased.We signed several agreements, 9 in total. Defence collaboration is an important pillar of India, Vietnam ties.”
The meeting comes at a time of growing cooperation between India and Vietnam, with both nations working closely on various fronts including trade, defense, and regional security. The shared interests and collaborative spirit reflect a robust and evolving partnership, essential for addressing regional and global challenges.
