President Droupadi Murmu has arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, marking the beginning of her State visit. Received at the Auckland International Airport by Trade, Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Todd McClay and India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Neeta Bhushan, President Murmu’s visit highlights the strengthening diplomatic ties between India and New Zealand.
Tomorrow morning, President Murmu will travel to Wellington to undertake a series of significant engagements. Her schedule includes a formal welcome and inspection of a Guard of Honour at Government House, followed by bilateral discussions with Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro. She will also meet with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Foreign Minister Winston Peters to discuss matters of mutual interest and collaboration.
A major highlight of her visit will be her address at the New Zealand International Education Conference, where she will speak on the importance of global educational partnerships. Additionally, President Murmu will pay a floral tribute at the Mahatma Gandhi Statue and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial. The visit will conclude with a State Banquet at Government House.
On Friday evening, President Murmu is scheduled to address the Indian community at the Viaduct Event Centre in Auckland. This event, organized by the Wellington-based Indian High Commission, is by invitation only and aims to engage with the Indian diaspora.
President Murmu’s visit is set to enhance bilateral relations and foster greater cooperation between India and New Zealand across various domains, including education, trade, and cultural exchange.
