
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Wayanad tomorrow, August 10, 2024, to review the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts in the wake of a severe landslide that has struck the region. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Kannaur around 11 AM, from where he will conduct an aerial survey of the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad.
The landslide, which occurred on 30 July, has tragically claimed the lives of at least 400 people as per the data , with several others injured and many more displaced from their homes. The disaster has caused significant damage to infrastructure and disrupted the lives of numerous residents in the region. 310 hectares of farmland in the Chooralmala, Attamala, and Mundakkai regions have also been devastated.
Upon reaching Wayanad, PM Modi will visit the landslide-affected areas around 12:15 PM, where he will be briefed by rescue forces on the ongoing evacuation and relief operations. His visit will include a tour of the relief camp and a local hospital, where he will meet and interact with survivors and victims of the landslide.
Following his field visits, the Prime Minister will chair a review meeting to receive a detailed briefing on the incident and the current status of relief efforts. This meeting aims to assess the progress of rehabilitation activities and address any additional needs or challenges faced by the affected communities.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to providing immediate assistance and support to those impacted by the disaster, reflecting a coordinated effort to manage the crisis and facilitate recovery.
