Rear Admiral Aditya Hara, Controller Personnel Services, ceremonially flagged off a mountaineering expedition to Mt Nun (7135M) in Ladakh from New Delhi. The expedition team, comprised of 16 naval personnel, including three women officers, is set to undertake this challenging ascent in one of India’s highest and most rugged terrains.
At the flag-off ceremony, RAdm Aditya Hara handed over the ceremonial ice axe to Commander Subir Kumar Singh, the Officer in Charge of the expedition team. In his address, RAdm Hara extended his best wishes to the team for a successful and safe summit of Mt Nun, a peak known for its challenging conditions and technical climbing requirements.
The expedition marks a significant milestone, highlighting the growing participation of women in high-altitude mountaineering within the naval forces. The team’s preparation has been rigorous, involving extensive training and acclimatization to ensure readiness for the demanding climb.
As they embark on this arduous journey, the naval team will face extreme weather conditions and high altitudes. Their preparation and dedication reflect the spirit of adventure and commitment to excellence upheld by the Indian Navy.
