The 3rd Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Zimbabwe took place in Harare on August 6, 2024, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations. The discussions were comprehensive, covering a broad spectrum of areas of mutual interest and cooperation.
During the consultations, both sides reviewed the full range of bilateral relations and evaluated the performance of existing institutional mechanisms, including the Joint Commission and the Joint Trade Committee. The dialogue underscored ongoing collaborations and explored opportunities for deeper engagement across various sectors.
Key topics of discussion included sectoral cooperation in defence, agriculture, health, mines, minerals and geology, and digital platforms. Additionally, education, training and capacity building, and cultural exchanges were highlighted as areas of mutual benefit. The discussions also extended to regional and global issues, with both countries expressing a commitment to further cooperation within the United Nations and other international forums.
The consultations provided a platform for both nations to address their shared interests and challenges, strengthening their partnership and setting the stage for future collaborations. It was agreed that the next FOC will be held in New Delhi, with the exact dates to be determined at a later time.
This meeting reflects the growing strategic and cooperative ties between India and Zimbabwe, emphasizing their shared goals and the importance of sustained dialogue in advancing their bilateral relationship.
