In a  change to its admission process, Delhi University will begin using Class XII marks to fill vacant seats in various undergraduate programs. The announcement, made by the university’s Vice Chancellor, marks a shift from the traditional admission criteria that primarily relied on entrance exams and cut-off marks. This will be taken in account after the regular admission rounds are completed.

The decision comes in response to a growing number of vacant seats across several departments and courses for the current academic year. By utilizing Class XII marks, the university aims to address these shortfalls and ensure that all available spots are filled in a timely manner.

“This new approach is designed to optimize the use of available seats and streamline the admission process,”  Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated. “By considering Class XII marks, we hope to make the admissions more inclusive and accessible to students who meet the academic standards.”

The revised policy is expected to benefit students who may have missed out on admission due to high cut-offs or missed entrance exams. It also reflects Delhi University’s commitment to adapting its processes to better meet the needs of students and manage institutional resources effectively.

The university is set to release detailed guidelines on how Class XII marks will be assessed and incorporated into the admissions process. This change is anticipated to provide greater opportunities for prospective students and enhance the overall efficiency of the university’s admission system.
