Defence Minister Rajnath Singh holds high-level security meeting on Jammu and Kashmir

In the wake of recent escalations in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level security meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday to assess the situation in the region. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and intelligence agencies.

The discussion primarily focused on the ongoing security operations in the Union Territory, with particular focus on the recent surge in terrorist activities in areas like Doda and Poonch. The Defence Minister was briefed on the current status of counter-insurgency operations, including the recent encounters that have resulted in significant recoveries of arms and ammunition from terrorist hideouts.

Sources close to the meeting indicated that the discussions were centered around enhancing the operational capabilities of the security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. The need for improved intelligence sharing, swift response mechanisms, and coordinated efforts among various security agencies was emphasized. The Defence Minister also reviewed the deployment of additional troops in sensitive areas to prevent further infiltration attempts across the Line of Control (LoC).

NSA Ajit Doval, known for his strategic oversight in national security matters, provided insights into the broader implications of the recent developments in J&K. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a robust security posture while ensuring that civilian life remains undisturbed.
