Chhattisgarh, Union Minister for Environment, Forests, and Climate Bhupender Yadav highlighted notable advancements in wildlife conservation, with the number of elephant reserves increasing to 33 and tiger reserves surpassing 55 over the past decade in a recent address in Raipur. Yadav emphasized that these expansions reflect the government’s commitment to preserving biodiversity and supporting wildlife protection initiatives.
Addressing the ongoing challenges, Yadav acknowledged the persistent issue of man-animal conflicts, which has been a significant concern in areas rich in wildlife. To tackle these challenges, the government has introduced technological solutions aimed at mitigating conflicts and ensuring safer coexistence between humans and wildlife.
On June 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which has garnered widespread participation across the country. This initiative encourages individuals to contribute to environmental conservation by planting trees, and a dedicated portal has been created to facilitate and track participation.
Yadav also praised Chhattisgarh’s efforts under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, noting the state’s dedication to tribal culture, social traditions, and forest conservation. He commended the state government for its substantial development work and commitment to enhancing tribal pride and preserving cultural heritage.
The Union Minister’s remarks underscore the ongoing efforts to balance ecological preservation with development, aiming to foster a sustainable environment while supporting local communities.
