CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam clarifies NITI Aayog meeting dynamics amid state absences

CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam reported that 10 states, including major ones like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, were absent, while 26 states and UTs participated in today’s NITI Aayog meeting.

CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam reported a mixed attendance in today’s NITI Aayog governing council meeting, with 10 states absent and 26 participating. The absent states included Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Puducherry. Notably, the Chief Minister of West Bengal attended and made a special request to speak before lunchtime, which was accommodated by adjusting the agenda.

Subrahmanyam detailed the meeting’s proceedings, emphasizing that the Chief Minister of West Bengal was allotted her time as requested. According to Subrahmanyam, each Chief Minister was given a seven-minute slot with a visible countdown timer. West Bengal’s Chief Minister used her allocated time to address the assembly, expressing a desire for additional time but ultimately adhering to the given limits.

The CEO clarified that no further deviations from the set schedule occurred beyond this adjustment. The meeting was conducted with strict adherence to time allocations, with the timer ensuring that each participant’s slot was respected. The Chief Secretary of West Bengal continued to participate in the meeting even after the Chief Minister departed for a scheduled flight to Calcutta.

The absence of several states was noted, but the CEO reiterated that the meeting proceeded with the presence and participation of key representatives and that all points made were duly recorded and will be reflected in the official minutes.
