Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has sanctioned 20 inflatable rubber boats with outboard motors to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.

20 inflatable rubber boats equipped with outboard motors have been sanctioned by  Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in response to recent challenges faced by Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNP&TR). This initiative was set in motion just a day after a crucial review meeting led by the Chief Minister.

The Kaziranga National Park official page expressed deep gratitude for the swift and decisive action, stating, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble CM Sir for the swift action and sanctioning of 20 Inflatable Rubberized Boats with Outboard Motors for Kaziranga, just a day after the review. This crucial support will significantly boost our rescue and relief operations.”

The decision to provide these boats reflects the Assam government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the park’s capabilities in managing flood-related challenges and improving wildlife rescue operations. During the review meeting held on June 15, Dr. Sarma highlighted the importance of strengthening Kaziranga’s preparedness against various challenges, including the impact of floods, which are common in the region.

The inflatable boats will play a vital role in navigating the park’s waterlogged areas, facilitating more efficient rescue operations for both wildlife and visitors during emergencies. The move underscores the government’s dedication to safeguarding Kaziranga’s rich biodiversity and supporting its tourism potential.

This timely intervention by the state government aims to ensure that Kaziranga National Park remains well-equipped to handle emergencies and continue its crucial conservation efforts.
