Air India adjusts flights amid Dhaka unrest and offers rescheduling waiver

Air India has announced operational changes and a rescheduling waiver for flights to and from Dhaka following severe unrest in the Bangladeshi capital.

Air India has issued a statement regarding its flight operations and customer support. Following yesterday’s severe unrest, including the resignation of Sheikh Hasina and her fleeing away from Bangladesh , Air India was compelled to cancel its flights to and from Dhaka on August 5, 2024.

Today, Air India will resume operations with its evening flights AI237/238 on the Delhi-Dhaka-Delhi sector. However, the airline is offering a one-time waiver for rescheduling to customers with confirmed bookings on any Air India flight to and from Dhaka between August 4 and August 7, 2024. This measure is aimed at accommodating passengers affected by the sudden cancellation and the ongoing instability in Dhaka.

Air India emphasizes that the safety of its passengers and crew is its top priority. The waiver allows travelers to adjust their travel plans without incurring additional fees, provided their tickets were booked on or before August 5. For further assistance, customers are advised to contact Air India’s Contact Centre at 011 69329333 or 011 69329999, or visit their official website at Air India.

The situation in Dhaka remains tense following widespread protests against the quota reservation system and a significant attack on the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre. The Bangladeshi government is grappling with the aftermath of the violence, including the resignation and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the imminent formation of a military interim government.
