Army Chief announces Interim government amid political transition, calls for peace and cooperation

General Waqar-uz-Zaman, in a televised address, assured the public that all cases of murder resulting from the recent violence will be thoroughly investigated.

Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced on Monday that a political transition is underway, with plans to establish an interim government. This move aims to stabilize the nation after weeks of deadly clashes and unrest.

General Waqar-uz-Zaman, in a televised address, assured the public that all cases of murder resulting from the recent violence will be thoroughly investigated. He emphasized the army’s commitment to justice and transparency, urging citizens to place their trust in the military during this critical period.

“We are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served,” General Waqar-uz-Zaman stated. “Every case of murder will be investigated with utmost diligence. Trust in the army’s ability to guide the nation through these turbulent times.”

The General called on the people of Bangladesh to maintain peace and order, stressing that cooperation, rather than conflict, is essential for the country’s progress. “In these challenging times, it is imperative that we come together as a nation. Violence and discord will only hinder our path forward. Let us work collectively to sustain our country’s well-being,” he urged.

He also highlighted the importance of unity, asking citizens to avoid violence and support the transition process. “The future of our nation depends on our ability to work together. We must avoid violence and collaborate to ensure a smooth and peaceful political transition,” General Waqar-uz-Zaman added.

The announcement comes amid ongoing student protests against quota reforms, which have led to widespread violence and significant loss of life. The unrest has underscored deep-seated grievances within the society, necessitating decisive action to restore peace and order.

As the country braces for the establishment of an interim government, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that brings stability and democratic integrity to Bangladesh.
