Hamas has condemned the recent series of pager explosions in Lebanon, which resulted in at least nine deaths and 2,750 injuries, calling the incident a “crime that defies all laws.” The group has accused the Israeli government of being fully responsible for the attacks, labelling them as part of a broader “Zionist enemy’s aggression” against the region.

In a statement, Hamas described the explosions, which targeted pagers used by Hezbollah members, as a “terrorist act” and emphasized its solidarity with Hezbollah. “This terrorist act is part of the Zionist enemy’s larger aggression on the region,” the statement read. Hamas also praised Hezbollah’s “efforts and sacrifices” in supporting the Palestinian cause, reinforcing its commitment to the resistance against Israeli actions.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah has similarly held Israel accountable for the deadly blasts. Israel has not yet responded to these allegations. The situation in Lebanon follows a backdrop of heightened tensions, with Hezbollah and Israel engaging in ongoing exchanges of fire since the commencement of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in October.

The conflict has had devastating effects on the region, with the Palestinian Education Ministry reporting that Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 11,000 students in Gaza and the West Bank since October 7. The broader impact of the war has been severe, with at least 41,252 people killed and 95,497 wounded in Gaza, while Hamas-led attacks on October 7 have claimed the lives of at least 1,139 individuals in Israel and left over 200 people captive.
