Taiwan to support Thailand’s digital and green transformation efforts

Addressing the audience, Lin pointed out that Taiwan’s export of successful business practices can aid other countries in achieving their developmental goals.

Taiwan will support Thailand in its digital and zero-emission transformation, as confirmed by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung on Tuesday, September 10. Speaking via a prerecorded message at a conference in Bangkok, Lin highlighted Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, emphasizing that both nations aim to create a mutually beneficial formula for progress.

Addressing the audience, Lin pointed out that Taiwan’s export of successful business practices can aid other countries in achieving their developmental goals. He underscored the ongoing formation of a smart city business alliance between Taiwan and Thailand, a concept he promoted during his visit to Bangkok last September. According to the Liberty Times, this initiative is set to boost urban development and technological integration in both nations.

A smart city exhibition held in Taipei in March drew significant interest from Thai officials and business leaders, with around 400 representatives attending to explore collaborative opportunities. Lin noted that these engagements demonstrate Thailand’s keen interest in harnessing Taiwan’s expertise in smart technologies and sustainable urban solutions.

Taiwan’s contributions to Thailand’s infrastructure already include the implementation of an electronic toll collection system on a Bangkok highway and a smart healthcare initiative at a hospital in Thonburi. These projects, according to Lin, serve as tangible examples of Taiwan’s ability to assist in enhancing Thailand’s public services through advanced technology.

Additionally, Lin acknowledged Thailand’s efforts to attract foreign investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor, a major economic zone southeast of Bangkok. He highlighted that Taiwan’s new economic diplomacy prioritizes collaboration in areas such as talent development, financial investment, and technological innovation, aligning with Thailand’s economic goals.

Lin’s remarks reflect Taiwan’s broader strategy to deepen ties with Southeast Asian nations by promoting sustainable development and digital transformation, positioning itself as a key partner in the region’s future growth.
