
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 index ended the trading session at 37,155.50 JPY, marking a sharp decline of 1,100.45 points (2.88%) from its previous close of 38,255.95 JPY. The benchmark index opened at 37,853.48 JPY and fluctuated between 36,840.12 JPY and 37,925.28 JPY throughout the session.
This drop extends Nikkei’s five-day decline to 3.55% and brings its year-to-date losses to 6.98%. Over the past one month, the index has shed 5.39%, while its performance over the past six months shows a 3.21% drop. On a one-year basis, the index has fallen 4.57%.
