Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his greetings to farmers across the country ahead of the seventh Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Speaking on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Xi acknowledged the efforts of agricultural workers in the face of severe natural disasters this year. He highlighted the successful increase in summer grain production and a steady early rice output, emphasising that another bumper grain harvest is anticipated, which will contribute significantly to economic recovery and high-quality development.
Xi underscored the importance of agriculture in China’s modernisation efforts, urging all levels of Party committees and governments to follow the CPC Central Committee’s directives on rural development. He pointed out that the experience of the Green Rural Revival Program should be applied to ensure a stable supply of grain and key agricultural products, while continuing to build on the achievements of poverty alleviation.
Promoting rural revitalisation, according to Xi, remains central to advancing Chinese modernisation. He called on various sectors of society to transform the plans for rural development into concrete actions. The economic benefits of agriculture must be enhanced, and efforts should focus on increasing farmers’ incomes, thereby injecting greater vitality into rural communities.
Xi expressed hope that these measures will solidify the foundation for modernising agriculture and rural areas, ultimately transforming China into a leading agricultural power. His address served as a reminder of the country’s commitment to fostering rural development and ensuring that the benefits of these initiatives are directly felt by the farming community.
